    Pros

Preceptors are great at teaching, everyone knows one another.

    Cons

Nurses are responsible for total care of 4-5 patients. If an nurse's assistant is available there is one for the entire floor. The shifts are 12 hours.

I worked at Adirondack Medical Center full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

The patients can be great but I worked in the ward where they couldn't move or talk on their own much.

    Cons

Everything. The pay sucks. They mandate you to work 3 double shifts per week... that means 8 shifts!!! I would work 7am to 11pm three days a week and then the normal 7-3 on the other two days. I would get home at 11:30pm and have to leave again at 6:30am...

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat and pay your workers better and you may earn some loyalty.

I have been working at Adirondack Medical Center

    Pros

Decent salary for the area, co-workers are easy to get along with, not to much stress on a daily basis.

    Cons

Not a lot of opportunity for advancement, largest employer in the area so there is no competition unless you want to relocate.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The line staff, managers, and directors are your most valuable asset not the Physicians. Start listening and implementing some of the ideas of the staff and allow it to be a two way street not driven from the top down.
