Pros
I met some great coworkers.
Cons
Pretty much everything else. The only way you can get promoted is if you've been there a long time, they really dont care about your skills. As long as your on some ones good side then your promoted. They cut all the pay scales and took away benefits and at the same time started asking us to do 10x more work. I can't wait to get my W2( which they waited till Jan 31st to mail out by the way ) that way i can be done with this crappy company for the rest of my life.
The only reason I gave this company a 1 rating is because 0 was not an option
Advice to Senior Management
To shove it.
Pros
The only reason to work for Minacs/OnStar is because you live in Michigan and jobs are scarce. Even then, you should exhaust all other options first. There are literally no pro's to this job other than the tiny paycheck.
Cons
This company took over the contract for the Warren call center for OnStar on November 8, 2010. The takeover was announced in September. In the two months they had to prepare to take over a client this large, they obviously made very few preparations. As of this writing, (12/29/10) we still have not had access to an actual Minacs representative since September, only their higher ups from their Farmington Hills branch. They transferred our absences from our previous contractor and some were fired because Minacs has a lower firing threshold than the previous company, yet we're on a 90 day waiting period to be able to request ANY time off because we're all "new" employees. We have no discernible chain of command above our Operations Managers and HR Rep. They seem to not care at all about even the most tenured of our advisors. I have never dealt with such a disorganized, unprofessional company.
Advice to Senior Management
Realize you're dealing with a multi-million dollar client and an enormous money maker for GM, and that not all of the teams are typical call center teams. The offline teams are GM's babies, and they keep them at the Detroit location for a reason... Easy access. Continue to treat tenured, intelligent offline advisors like replaceable street trash and you will destroy GM's one consistently profitable product.
Pros
Most of the lower level co-workers are pretty decent and some have been there since really long. Company has some silly stuff like free pizza day or dress down days - not too sure if this is a pro
Cons
Management is not transparent. No pay for performance. Benefits are pathetic and getting worse by the day. Nobody is happy with the place anymore - people are still there coz they have nowhere else to go. Sad
Advice to Senior Management
Stop micro-managing. Get rid of a few useless people at the top. Get to know what really goes on in the "real" world and get real.
Pros
Good Environment and collegues and some facilities i.e Indooe sports and Cafeteria
Cons
Need to work in night shift
Advice to Senior Management
Employees should be given opportunity to learn and develope extra skills
Pros

no pressure
Cons
trainers are pathetic and for that reason the new joinees are at a loss
the recruitement team forgot its own policy
the ijp does not meananything other than a so called position with no salary hike
nobody has a clear answer for any question
the transport is pathetic, this is the only company which is having 1 hour buffer time
often lady employees do not get escorts, the male employee is asked to escort the lady
you cannot communicate with managers as they are busier than the ministers
the infrustructure is terrible
the cafereria food is always half cooked
if there is exit for any employee s/he has to come again and again, there is no promptness in official work
incentives depends on the mood of the manager, if you are in good term with them you will get it.

Cons

Advice to Senior Management
Policies needs to be very transparent
Pros
The only pro about this place are the friends I've met. Other than that, nothing is great and I dread going to work every day.
Cons
This company partakes in unethical practices in order to withhold benefits from employees, mostly hiring mass amounts of part-time call center agents to get around paying them benefits full-time employees are entitled to such as health insurance, paid vacation, paid holidays, etc. It really should be against the law. They work people exactly 34 hours per week. If they were to work 35 or more, they'd be considered full-time which is a no no. It's a terrible way to run a business and I can't believe they've not realized this by now. I'm pretty sure HR thinks us call center employees are too stupid to realize they do this to us, but we're not. People don't value their jobs and why should anyone since the company doesn't value us as employees? I can't even take a few days off (unpaid even) to go on vacation without getting written up and that's a darn shame!
My advice to anyone looking to interview with Minacs....don't! Only if you are really desperate for a job.
Advice to Senior Management
Cut the crap and start treating all employees (yes, even those call center employees) with respect. You'd be amazed at how it could turn your organization around.
