Advice to Senior Management
Be
Pros
Great Benefits, very comprehensive. Competitive pay and nice place to work
Cons
Adobe does not know what it wants to be now that it is over 20 years old. They change course in the direction they are headed too often. They need to determine what they want to be a software company or a enterprise solutions company, you can not be both. Also, if you have young children this IS NOT the place for you. Long hours are expected and while they boast work life balance programs, do not be fooled. I think it is a great place to start your career fresh out of college but being in middle management at Adobe sucks.
Pros
Brand Value, Perks, cutitng edge technology
Cons
Politics , Shortgae of resources , Complex systems and procedures
Pros
Package and financial advantages. Beautiful facilities. Easy access to customer. Good product on the desktop side. Good car policy. Nice kickoff and events. Good reputation and quality employees.
Not too much internal processes.
Cons
Pressuring management with poor skills, difficulty to find any carreer path, too much historical manager stick to their chair. Poor product strategy on the enterprise product offer side. High quota.
Advice to Senior Management
Bring some hope of carreer evolution to the well ranked people before they all left. Be more transparent about product strategy.
Pros
The people. The products. The work/family balance.
Cons
Hard to change the way things are done. Taken as complaining.
Advice to Senior Management
People need to feel comfortable in speaking up. Need to know it's ok to go over someones head and you won't be laid off for speaking up.
Pros
Flex time
We have the greatest products, and with the Omniture products we can take individuals or enterprises through creating the most compelling content, displaying it, running and hosting it, analyzing it, and ultimately optimizing it through data driven testing, in order to positively affect the bottom line.
If you want to, you're welcome to attend any and all training offered to all the Adobe products, and encouraged to become Adobe ACE or Omniture product certified professional.
It's a Great addition to any resume.
Cons
Praise is high, promotions on par with large companies, it takes For Ever. If career growth and fast advancement is your thing, go work in a start-up.
The secret, silent yearly redundancies that favor keeping the politically inclined - catering to a very homogeneous employee base and back-side covering culture
Pros
you are left to decide on how to drive your own boat. you get to choose what projects you would like to work on.
Cons
sometime it gets difficult to get the necessary approvals in purchasing things. middle level managers have to develop sometime as required.
Pros
Best reasons to work at Adobe - culture, career growth potential, great people, and amazing opportunities to learn from senior colleagues and managers.
Cons
Lack of senior management's support in violations of code conduct. I and many of my colleages have been witness to blatant favoritism, of which senior management is well aware, but no disciplinary action is taken. Three incredibly talented and intelligent people have left the team because of this, but are too afraid to go to HR to complain. They fear that it would be awkward and nobody wants to be a whistle blower. It's a commonly known fact that the manager and his subordinate are in engaged in a personal relationship - it's laughable. What is not laughable is the obvious display of favoritism this manager bestows upon his subordinate - i.e. promotions when most would agree her skill level and abilities do not match the roles she's been promoted to.
Advice to Senior Management
Don't promote/reward folks who cheat and lie. The good guys get screwed and end up leaving and you end up with a team built on a weak foundation.
Pros
- Security
- Benefits
- Competitive compensation
- Interesting technology (depending on the org)
- Strong values
Cons
- Plenty of work but not always challenging
- Weak middle management
- Lack of vision
- Risk averse (to a fault)
Advice to Senior Management
Middle management needs to be held accountable.
Pros
* Nice downtown San Jose location, close to mass transit (SF Office)
* Smart enginnering staff
* Great Benefits
* Good name recognition
Cons
* HR does little to promote from within
* Alot of rookie VPs waiting for market to turn around, it shows in their work.
* Alot of politics (tends to happen when there is not enough growth)
* Ego driven culture (too many chiefs not enough indians)
* Alot of jobs are being re-org'd to Utah where cost is cheaper
* Flash
Advice to Senior Management
* Stop the hemmoraging of the employee base to fast growing organizations.
