I have been working at Adobe full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

The team that I work for here in Canada is absolutely great. It's a positive work environment, no tolerance for gossip. We go for drinks together after work etc.

    Cons

It's a fortune 500 company ranked in the top 100 employers of planet earth. The expectations for performance are high. If your a top performer, love life and want to make great money, jump in!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Glad you stopped the chopping block which caused a decrease in employee morale after the recession. Great work!

I worked at Adobe as a contractor (less than a year)

    Pros

it is difficult to think of pros , i believe the people i worked with were very kind and i believe that if you are a permanent employee the the list of pro are a lot larger

    Cons

coming in as a contractor i feel like no matter how hard i work the chance of me advancing is non existent. the quality of my work can be exceptional but it doesnt matter, getting a permanent felt impossible

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

treat contractors and permanent employees equally

-Limited opportunities for career growth outside of core offices (San Jose, San Francisco, Seattle, Utah, India)
-Frequent re-orgs to align with new "strategy", typically timed with employee lay offs or RIF
-Salary increases are small, so do a good job negotiating starting salary

I worked at Adobe full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Strong emphasis on employee development. Management training program ensures consistent management style across the company. Well developed infrastructure for product development teams. The culture of charitable support and community involvement is very commendable.

    Cons

Adobe is fundamentally a shrink wrapped software company. They have struggled to become an enterprise software company and keep changing the enterprise strategy without understanding why the previous strategy was not working. This makes working on enterprise products at Adobe a frustrating experience.

Adobe pays it's employees extremely well. Why is that a con? The result is constant offshoring of development teams because North American labour costs are so high. This is self-inflicted pain that is actually not positive for North American workers in the long run.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't let the same people pick the next enterprise strategy. Stop overpaying your North American employees so you can afford to keep them.

    I worked at Adobe

    Pros

    - there can be opportunities for innovation
    - pay scale is very good
    - benefits are very good
    - there is flexibility in work locations - some employees work from remote offices

    Cons

    - innovation doesn't seem to get the same support it used to
    - ideas come from the top down
    - like many large hi-tech firms legacy products are being offshored to India and China creating a nervous atmosphere in North America
    - majority ownership are financial instiitutions - and that seems to be who is running the company

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - find a way to bring back some sense of belonging to the masses
    - 35% profit has to be enough to say no to layoffs

I have been working at Adobe

    Pros

Great compensation, smart people, awesome products. Adobe is known for its high quality products and it is a source of pride for all of us to be associated with "the best".

    Cons

Bureaucracy and way too many processes. Adobe has too many people in the organization who do not contribute to the bottom line, and spend a lot of their working hours coming up with ways to slow down the rest of us. This is probably common at any company that is growing rapidly and trying to do so gracefully.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Streamline the company's processes, outsource business functions such as legal and recruiting and focus more attention on the huge enterprise software opportunity it has.
