Game Changing Technology. An Innovative and Smart Team. A Challenging and Fun Environment.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) San Francisco, CA

ProsWorking at Adura provides an opportunity to really make a difference to the world that I live in, through my every day work.

ConsGenerally the downside of working for start-ups, is the lack of plentiful resources: time, human, financial etc. That is also part of the satisfaction of working for a start up - developing the ability to do the best job despite limited resources.

Learned a lot, but significant frustrations as well

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) San Francisco, CA

ProsEngineering team is excellent. Smart, dynamic people with a genuine interest in doing something good for the world. The product has promise as well, but there are issues.

ConsManagement is opaque and communicates poorly. Pay is lower than industry standards. Product is too complex. This is a common issue at start ups where a company tries to do too much, but even after realizing simplification was needed, it took too long to take action.

Advice to Senior ManagementIncrease transparency and hold events that encourage camaraderie.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Enterprise with huge gaps between product sales promise and product performance with consequences to personal reputation

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) San Francisco, CA

ProsEnergetic, bright, technical staff with deep understanding of the technology in a growth industry. Professional attitude among staff and respect for individual expertise and experience.

ConsHighly secretive senior management staff causing widespread misunderstandings of roles and responsibilities and ultimately the effectiveness of the enterprise potential.

Advice to Senior ManagementTrust the technical and marketing staff feedback on product performance and customer expectations. There is little value in shooting the messenger

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend

Great people, game-changing technology, strong leadership (finally)

    (Current Employee)

ProsAdura has a great team of really smart, innovative and collaborative people. Individuals at every level of the organization are listened to, and valued for their contributions. It's a great place to work!!

Much to its credit, the current leadership has refused to put its head in the sand about the challenges of bringing this new technology to the market, and changing the game. They've openly shared and discussed those challenges in detail with all department heads. As a result, they inspired sales, marketing, product development and engineering to come up with new solutions. People put their heads together, shared ideas, and came up with a new concept that takes Adura to an entirely different level. Everyone has been re-energized by the recent developments.

The company is on track, after years of well-meaning but less than effective leadership. The early years of finger-pointing, tail-chasing, and adolescent in-fighting created by a destructive few, has come to an end. Self-aggrandizing egos have been purged from the organization, and things are zooming forward.

Working at Adura, you can look forward to:
    - collaborating with lots brilliant, energetic, motivated people
    - positive atmosphere and exciting, paradigm-shifting work
    - critical roadblocks once obstructing highly scalable growth and profits have been overcome or eliminated entirely
    - a market that openly welcomes Adura's fresh new approach

Cons- Right or wrong (they may have had their reasons), the board took too long to replace ineffective leadership and as a result investors are fatigued. In sore need of refreshment
    - Current leadership may not have fully recognized the degree of sabotage being conducted by defiant subversives (positioned as company heros) until after they had poisoned the well and moved on
    - The clean-up required has put Adura in a very awkward position with some of it's customers
    - Current leadership (and employees) may pay the ultimate price for the sins of a few who have gone before
    - VC's are an impatient lot
    - As with all startups, until you stand on your own, you're only as strong as your last round of funding
    - Too late, damage done? Let's hope not

Advice to Senior ManagementIt's impressive to see what you've accomplished in the last 18 months, and the last 4 months in particular.

You quickly came to understand a complex industry and market, and cracked the code that would allow a massive shift in the rate of adoption of energy-saving controls. And you managed to devise a means for advanced controls to enter the market with ease, while supporting the current sales channels. Thank you for making Adura an inspiring and exciting place to work once again. Now, go get us the capital we need to finish the job.

To the investors - Don't give up on Adura. Try to separate what came before from what's happening now. Those who almost tanked Adura would be happy to see it fail following their departure, which would unjustifiably imply their vindication.
Now is the time to show your support; all of the pieces for success are in place. Give this team a chance to take Adura all the way.
