Evansville, IN

Former Employee – worked at Advance America part-time for less than a year

ProsI didn't see any pros of this company.

ConsWork hours. Upper management is pushy and make insulting remarks to store managers who don't meet quota. Calling store managers lazy is very unprofessional. The work hours are horrible especially when business is slow. There's no advancement opportunities. Too much favortism.

Advice to Senior ManagementChange your local management, area and district. Hire people that know how to manage staff properly and are very personable.

Spartanburg, SC

Former Employee – worked at Advance America full-time for more than 3 years

ProsThe only pro is that you get a paycheck every two weeks.

ConsDisrespectful management, benefits are well below industry standards, no loyalty, only feedback is negative, stressful environment in both stores and in the corporate office.

Advice to Senior ManagementEasy and cost free benefit is allowing corporate staff business casual attire, improve the overall benefits package it is absolutely awful, provide for a 401K match, communicate with non-management as if they are human beings and treat them with some respect. All the corner office senior management is about themselves, it's one power trip after another. Respect, respect, respect...show a little.

Kansas City, KS

Former Employee – worked at Advance America full-time for less than a year

ProsGreat pay. No micromanaging. Extrememly Autonomous.

ConsCoventry schedules the members and several felt they were harrassed and received numerous phone calls(despite saying no several times) to agree to the assessment. Many times the members were very upset that they were forced to agree to have the assessment done and did not realize the value and reasons for the assessment.
It was also very difficult to know who to report to, where to send your expense reports, PTO requests, benefits inquiries, etc. Management was constantly changing.Essentially no communication from management.
You are terminated with very little notice. Just "the contracts weren't renewed. Bye."

Conslong days on big paydays-expected though it the biz, insurance went up, only one Sat off a month is the main complaint

Current Employee – been working at Advance America full-time for more than a year

ProsConsistent full time hours, good security measures for employes, Gaining a lot of experience dealing with money, checks, and banking related activities.

ConsDealing with large amounts of money, mandatory working Friday and Saturday, frequently working alone from open to close, no bonus incentive for customer service representatives for meeting budget every month; only managers and higher ups receive bonus's.

Advice to Senior ManagementNo matter how busy or slow the store might be there should always be two people working at all times for both effective teamwork and personal safety.

Milwaukee, WI

Former Employee – worked at Advance America full-time for more than a year

ProsMy shift started late enough to get my kids off to school; it's an easy job, not demanding at all, not much thinking required. The manager I worked with was amazing and I was happy to see her each day.

ConsIt's very much an entry-level, revolving door job; employees are treated like numbers; doesn't pay enough to pay my bills; no room for advancement, professional growth, or sharing of ideas and suggestions. The store is a very bare-bones operation. Very repititious and boring, no challenges. Mileage reimbursement didn't even compensate the cost of starting my car up (25-cents per mile)

Advice to Senior ManagementI felt like I didn't matter in the scheme of things. The pay was low, the PPO health insurance was so expensive, mileage reimbursed at 25-cents per mile. Really? Have you seen the cost of gas?
