    Pros

Depends on where you are at but it's a good company to work for. The company values and leadership are good. Benefits are good.

    Cons

There is no work/home life balance. The hours are bad. Sometimes, it's hard to get promoted. They don't always promote from within. Communications break down a lot as do the computers crashing.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Create a better work/home life balance. Get an updated computer system. Update the work hours. Give three people to every center. Don't keep adding worthless/bad non-payday loan products. Listen to your employees.

    Pros

My peer group was exceptional! Very helpful and supportive.
The annual meeting was laid out very well and was motivating!

    Cons

All levels of Management should know their numbers and the cause and effect of not meeting budget. This isn't a requirement at Advance America.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Know the leadership style of your direct supervisor well before you share issues/concerns.
Trying to get your direct reports to be true leaders is difficult when Senior Management doesn't require it!

    Pros

Because we have a loyal customer base, you get to know your customers very well and they can be very nice.

    Cons

Management stance: It's me and you, until it's me or you! Exactly what it means. When there is a dispute on how something is done you are thrown to the wolves. At a meeting, management laughed when it was discussed that a team member was shot during a robbery.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your people inside the stores. If you want the real scoop on how your stores are run.. Don't completely believe your DDO's.

    Pros

Enjoyed working with my staff and the customers.

    Cons

Our DDO had absolutely no people skills. She treated us like we were all stupid.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire quality upper management. Promote within to have experienced leaders at the Division and Regional levels.

    Former Employee - Assistant Manager

    Pros

    Easy Work
    Good Training
    Mostly Fun Customers

    Cons

Unless you are a center manager, your pay is almost minimum wage.
District Managers (DDOs) can make or break the atmosphere.
Somewhat pushy to meet sales goals for cross-selling.
Pre-paid card and any services related to it are crap and suck money out of people already in need of extra cash.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get better DDOs. I was a CSR and Assistant Manager, but I am an extremely intelligent person and could have done the DDO job much better than most.
Get rid of that CRAP PRE-PAID NETSPEND CARD.
That's all, it was a nice place to work really. Depends on who your managers are, though, I am sure.

Current Employee - Center Manager  in  Reno, NV
Current Employee - Center Manager in Reno, NV

    Pros

Family like atmosphere, competitive salary base, room for advancement, open door and communication policy between all levels from CSR to CEO, ability to make independent decisions to meet customer needs within the parameters of the law. Great working hours hours, vacation package, and holiday pay.

    Cons

Loss of vacation hours when not taken. And your not always able to take it due to lack of employee coverage. They have a use it or loose it policy when EARNED vacation should have a cash out option if given extenuating circumstances your unable to take it due to lack of coverage. Bonuses are offered but the payout compensation is lacking. This is truly the only major con to working for the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Better bonus payouts. Hold management accountable equally not allow things to slide because a center is performing.
