ProsYou can learn some very helpful knowledge about vehicles and sales culture. It is also a very good starting job for those in or fresh out of high school.

ConsThey have typical corporate problems that most large companies have. They tend to favor and take better care of the upper level management and the average worker gets screwed over.

I feel this company was a fairly good company to work for.

I worked at Advance Auto Parts full-time for more than 3 years

ProsThe majority of my co-workers and store management had a good relationship which made working each day better.

ConsThe pay scale seems to be low especially for in store management. Upper management doesn't seem to show enough appreciation for store employees

Advice to Senior ManagementShow your store employees more appreciation for the work they do. Also realize that the pay scale is low which correlates to lower moral and higher turn over.

Store Management shouldn't be held so responsible for personal sales numbers.

Prosbonuses are ok if you want to work register all day.

ConsAs Assistant General Manager, I was essentially a glorified cashier.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop holding SM and AGM positions accountable for personal sales numbers. They should be held accountable for overall store numbers. You will get, and keep better caliber people.

Regional staff has little integrity

ProsThe best aspect of this company is the size and growth potential

ConsWork / life balance is very difficult to find here.
Change is good, however, AAP doesn't give any new ideas a real chance of working. It's a constant see saw of lets see what works today and change it tomorrow

ProsNone bad enough it's retail but this is a whole new level of bad

Conspoor scheduling (no consideration for work/home) often left alone for hours in store to cut back hours, very unsafe.
Pay is just above minimum for managment

A joke

I have been working at Advance Auto Parts full-time for more than a year

ProsSlightly flexible schedule, I have a small child that just so happened like to stay up late than get up early, so evening shift worked out for me. Liked helping ppl, I helped people by just knowing things not working myself to death

ConsHours, Pay, Raises, Upper level management you name it. These people are set behind the desk, never turned a bolt in their life, car idiots, that think they know what the working man wants when he walks into a parts store. It's not project packs and that same stupid featured item of the month. It's low prices, availability, and a competent person to help them.

Advice to Senior ManagementPeople in my store walk out because I'm understaffed. Two people to help 15 to 20 per hour? It;s not a gas station, it takes time to help these people.
If you want someone to "drive sales" you should probably pay a little more than minimum wage to make it competitive, I'm tired of dealing with right out of high school can't scratch their
on rear without specific instructions of how to do it and breathe at the same time.
Your tech. sucks, that is just it, plain and simple. slow computers and way to complicated to do the simplest task.
Your training program is... wait? What training program
Your "sph goal" idea is a good one but how am i supposed to get 170 sph and do cycle counts, POG, help other employee's, clean and every other store task at the same time?
Your idea of "reducing tasks" is still just an idea nothing changed. Nothing.
