One week you are a hero, the next you are not a team player.

I have been working at Advance Auto Parts full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The only Pro is a company vehicle

    Cons

Leadership is dishonest, arrogant, will through anybody under the bus to cover themselves from a write-up or firing.. meaning leadership has NO accountability because they're all buddies & cover each other.

Leadership does not care if you have a life outside of work, they expect you to work 60-70 hr's a week & still complain you're not doing enough.

You'll also be micro-managed & harassed beyond belief & that is not an exaggeration

Company benefits are very poor as I got better healthcare rates on my own.

Company is so cheap they make you pay for your own uniforms.

HR back's leadership-up and does not investigate unless forced too.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be honest, stop lying, stop abusing your power & making employee's underneath you take the blame resulting in employee's being written-up and or fired.

Be accountable, do as you say through actions, not false promises / commitment's to your employee's and customer's.

    Pros

Nice change of pace. Your doing everything from stocking shelves to delivering auto parts to commercial customers.
Learn a lot about fixing cars.
    Team member discount

    Cons

    Safety
    Assistant and general managers
Poor working conditions. Within the first month the company didn't even supply me with a company jacket let alone a company T-shirt.
Place 90% workload on the drivers
    Treat drivers with extreme disrespect
    Hours

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Hire more drivers.
Starting pay should be raised to $9.50

    Good company objectives, bad management.

I worked at Advance Auto Parts

    Pros

I enjoyed helping customers find the parts they needed for their car(s). The other employees were pleasurable to work with.

    Cons

The job was stressful, as there was often a language barrier (the area featured many Spanish-speaking people and I only speak English).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire better managers who actually care about their job.

I have been working at Advance Auto Parts part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Hours are great for someone looking for a part time job to either make additional ends meet, or just to have some extra cash.
Overall day to day operations are normal.

    Cons

GM shows favoritism for employees that are basically "the managers pet". GM would rather point finger to non essential employees over holding key employees to higher levels that their title holds the accountable for.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Train your GM's better. Show no difference between your day and night shift crews. Stop stereo typing the tasks, for example taking the trash out is the night crews job. If the trash can is full, or the restroom needs to be cleaned and a team member during the day has free time, then do it. We are a team, stop treating the day crew differently from the night crew, we all are working toward the same goal, make the company profitable.
