Easy out of the war job

I have been working at Advance Auto Parts

    Pros

Discount car parts and you stay out of the store. Time goes fast when you drive all day. The long the trips the quicker the day goes by.

    Cons

Sales people try to take your sales when you work the register. CPP tends to forget when to tell you there is a delivery so when it shows up late the customer takes it out on you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't put all the back end work and planograms on the driver. You do have sales people not doing anything on their phones when there is down time

I have been working at Advance Auto Parts

    Pros

Job security, health insurance, on the job training, fast pace, parts experience, the ability to help people, monthly bonus if you hit your sales target.

    Cons

Long hours, company changes focus too often, low pay for both management and sales associates, understaffed stores, high turn over.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It is impossible to provide legendary customer service when your store is constantly understaffed.

    Pros

you learn a lot about auto parts and how to fix cars.

    Cons

Management is the WORST! Not even worth dealing with how their company goals are unreachable and expect to reach them.

    Pros

Steady work enviroment decent salary health benifits warm in the winter cool in the summer

    Cons

upper management changes constant lack of support

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

set long term goals nothing happens over night. As a team you should have combined goals not individuale. The empasis on team is used but not enforced. You cannot have people competing for the same sale and exspect there not to be problems

I have been working at Advance Auto Parts part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

The small discount on parts is the only real positive about this job. There is a chance to learn a little something about cars but anyone with experience won't benefit much.

    Cons

The policies and controls are outrageous. There are more steps in the managerial hierarchy than I can count but strict rules and procedures dictate everything. Pay is no better than Mcdonalds.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fire everyone not working in the stores or actively searching for clients. It's the same problem as every single other public corp. in this country, the people who make the business possible, the ones in the stores selling the products are treated like trash.

I have been working at Advance Auto Parts

    Pros

I enjoyed interacting with the customers, as well as my employee counterparts.

    Cons

They are not willing to mentor their employees, rather, they will just toss the current employee and hire new, stating the training process from the ground up.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Not every employee is a just fit but sometimes, you save more from mentoring and reviewing the training that was already provided.

    Pros

Great people in the store to work alongside. All very encouraging and capable of mentoring and sharing their knowledge. District Manager was a true leader, always engaged and open to listen and change.

    Cons

Working hours were extensive as a GM. A lot of heavy lifting required as each position had to share in putting up inventory.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Help GM's to minimize hours to 50 or less weekly to maximize their energies and productivity. It's important to have a life outside of work.

A growing organization. Fast paced. Great people. Excellent leadership particularly from the CEO leadership. They have a strong growth platform and vision. Great store level ownership.

    Cons

The company vision sometimes does not make it to line level leaders. Technology is a little dated but they are investing in it.
