Pros
You learn a lot about the medical field and pharmaceutical companies, as well as different ways to search for information that is difficult to find.
Cons
My job in particular was very tedious and redundant so it can be quite boring at times, but it is still necessary to do the tasks.
Advice to Senior Management
I am pleased with how I was treated by the staff and they taught me valuable techniques in terms of internet research.
Pros
There were some pretty nice and friendly coworkers
Cons
The managers only micro manage, they aren't happy unless they are breathing down your necks about the smallest thiings
Pros
Nice building
Free coffee
Helpful HR group
Cons
Mean spirited culture
Lack of collaboration
Lack of transparent communication
Pool morale
Advice to Senior Management
Come out of your ivory tower! Pay attention and get out of your offices and walk among the people so you can understand how bad things really are for the average Joe. Morale is suffering and management seems to be unaware of how people really feel. Things looked promising when new CEO first came on board but now it appears that he has adopted the former way of doing things.
Pros
More time off than most companies
Office was close to home
Fellow IT Staff were knowlegable and helpful
Variety of Projects allowed IT staff to work on new things
IT Managers had adequate access to system resources to allow them to get their job done
Cons
Upper Management didn't respect middle management opinions at times.
Too much red tape and over engineered processes caused project delays and software quality to decline.
IT Development staff was forced to meet deadlines set by business without consulting with IT.
Staff is underpaid
No Raises for almost 3 years
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to your staff! Change your focus from the bottom line back to taking care of your customers and more importantly your employees. After all, the employees are the ones that take care of your customers! Eliminate the red tape that ties down your staff. Get rid of the offshore development staff. They may be cheaper but they really don't have a clue about the business and will be the death of the software that helped make the company great.
Pros
Team members will often help each other out when there are deadlines in order to meet client needs. People are willing to help out whether it is there job or not.
Cons
There is little to no room for growth in certain positions. We have not received merit increases in several years.
Pros
paychecks are still being cashed
air conditioning and heating mostly coordinate with the weather outside
if you work an additional mandatory 10+ hours you are entered into a drawing for a $50 gift card
Cons
you could be convulsing on the floor by your desk and they would just print you out a spreadsheet to work on while you're away from your computer
your manager knows less about your job than the person who answers the phone, and their manager knows even less
if you are not a foreign based employee you're likely about to see the back of the unemployment line
Advice to Senior Management
13 our fathers and 2 hail mary's
Pros
Some of the people were nice.
It beats unemployment
Cons
Nepotism runs rampant and the morale is the pits. People tend to tread-water at this company and it's a dead-end for your career. The longer you stay, the less marketable you become. Goal-oriented people beware, you will not achieve or learn much here and you might even develop a few bad habits.
Advice to Senior Management
Please stop billing yourself "as one of the best places to work in NJ". It's just not the case anymore, if it ever was.
Pros
AHM has a large lower level employee population that they try to keep satisfied.
They would like to be seen as a good company to work for but are not sure how to do this.
Cons
Limited experience at senior management level
Poor to non-existent growth strategy
Old custom products, poor delivery
Poor financial management
Unhappy employees over a long period of time
Pros
WFH program is pretty good - flexible and middle management attempts to promote work life balance.
Cons
Decisions are made at the top level by folks that have no idea of what's going on in the barracks. IT projects ALWAYS late and over budget.
Advice to Senior Management
Bring IT to NJ closer to the business users - the tech shop in Norfolk is too far removed from the business to be able to partner.
Pros
Fair compensation, good work-life balance
Cons
More toward industry -- appears pharma is reducing spend in promotional areas
Advice to Senior Management
None
