I have been working at Advantage Rent A Car full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Co-workers, company car and the lack of discipline which can come to work late and get away with it.

    Cons

Management no care attitude, Upper Management sits and barks orders while people in the fire know differently.

    Advice to Management

Stop looking at nurse and listen to the people in the line and fire. It is easy to steal money that you are not doing nothing. Get your butt on the frontline and deal with no cars, customers waiting, customers being irate and see how you deal with it. Cowards are what you all are.

    Pros

    Training, teamwork, guidance from supervisors.

    Cons

Some sale agents are tricky when selling OPTIONAL products, customer's lack of attention to READ their rental agreements, outdated GPS gadgets, radios, and scanners.

    Advice to Management

Hire honest sales agents. Just look at the customer's complains. PLUS--invest money in GPS, radios, and scanners if you want to provide efficient experience for your clients. That goes for the city manager!

I worked at Advantage Rent A Car full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Meet a lot of interesting people, the pay, the company car and gas.

    Cons

Just merged with EZ RAC, and decided to choose different staffing models to react to the economic issues AKA they're going to replace all the hard workers who were getting paid a decent living with people who will TRY to do the work for $10 an hour followed by false hopes. Don't try to be a hero because as soon as your name gets out that you're doing a good job, you'll be the first to go. You can't trust 95% of the people there. Worked 14 hour days sometimes 17 hour days. Again, fly below the radar and do your 9 hour shift and go home for the day.

    Advice to Management

Stop changing the payout tiers for the CSA's. These guys bring you a ton of incremental sales and time and mileage. Give them a piece of the action so that you'll have dependable employees who want to sell and go to work everyday. Good luck with the new "staffing models" as you'll see that there will be a very high turnover rate and they won't want to do the job for $10-$14 per hour (I know I wouldn't). Get your processes in order and try to be proactive rather than reactive. I know it's hard to do (no sarcasm) but upper management has the ability to do so if you give yourself a timeline for the project. Come up with an operations manual (I was working on one before I got laid off and I guess it will be sitting in my hard drive until I die).

    Pros

Great Job to have, but they had to close the location.

    Cons

The Company closed Seattle its location...

  6. Very unorganized and predatory practices. Will try to get you to lie to agents about their payouts to keep them happy.

I worked at Advantage Rent A Car full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Car and gas expenses paid. I have to say 20 word minimum so I'll reiterate that the car and gas is nice.

    Cons

Upper management changes every few months, company was bought out by catalyst co. Company changes payout to pay employees less and demands more revenue from agents at the same time changing to be more difficult each month frustrating agents to quit on the spot or not show up for work. Was demanded to be a slave driver rather than a sales manager couldn't keep new employees for more than a few weeks till sales teirs came out and upon seeing the teirs agents would quit due to the unrealistic expectations. Sales commission structures don't get released till mid month as your remaining employees are working for goals they haven't have a clue about due to lack of timely release of commission teirs dur to upon per management not giving you the teirs. Work for people who have no idea what they are doing and if you work hard and stand out beware you might not last long as you will be the newest scapegoat for termination so your city managers and regional vp keep their jobs.

    Advice to Management

Stop treating your customers and employees as mindless and expendable , upper management looking for scapegoats for low profitability. And then mass layoffs to cut expenses with no advanced notice. Not the way to have happy employees just look at the yelp reviews to see what your public perception is.

    Pros

    Pay isn't bad, Life-work balance

    Cons

    indecisive management, poor business planning

    Advice to Management

Listen to your experience managers that are on the ground. There is a lot of talent in the field that are treated like they are kindergarteners and there is no need for that. Upper management need not be afraid of making a decision. The inability to make decisions leads to a weakened level in confidence from employees below. Communicate! Communicate the good, the bad, the ugly, and be transparent with information.

    Pros

I work nights. So the plus was that i was by myself and didn't have to deal with the daytime drama.

    Cons

This company in the NY area is poorly manged by rude self-centered individuals. Management doesn't care about their employees just their number. Constantly pressing them to push unrealistic product options on customers. Ny city has a ridulous policy about not renting cars to NY residence who don't have insurance...without giving them the option to buy insurance from advantage. Most NYers don't own a car, so why would they have insurance...thus cause a lost in customers becuase you can't rent to them.

    Advice to Management

They need to revamp their plan

    Pros

If you can sell, you can buy a house in a year.

    Cons

On your feet, 10 hrs. No chairs anywhere. Not knowing what you'll make month to month. Stress from angry customers because you're trying to upsell them. And they funny care about your home life one bit.

    Advice to Management

Chairs are not unprofessional. They are a necessity. Train your asst mgrs to not take upgrades off without a REAL reason.

    Pros

Interacting with different ethnicities daily were exciting, The employees are cool once you get familiar with how things flow on a daily

    Cons

On your feet the whole time, it gets rough when you have to charge customers, then you have to deal with the unhappiness and rudeness. So many changes, you have to confirm on a daily whats going on !

    Advice to Management

They dont the best that they can, understaffed but management really tries to help instead of just throwing you under the bus like others. Once they get an all on board crew, they can advance to the top.
