Proscompany match program, good people at middle level

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ConsManagement does not have a good grasp of the value of its employees.

Advice to Senior ManagementListen to and pay attention to employees who actually contribute toward the success of the company instead of promoting employees who do nothing but play politics.

Japanese headquartered company took over Verigy

    Knowledge Manager (Former Employee)
    Cupertino, CA

ProsThey brought a strategic perspective missing from previous management

ConsAs a Japanese firm all key decisions were made in Japan and left the US team out

Advice to Senior ManagementBe more open with the US team, meetings need to offer more US input, more discussion in English, put in US based managers in the US, instead of installing Japanese managers over US staff,

Management not sure if they are running a Japanese or American Company

    Engineering (Current Employee)
    San Jose, CA

    ProsStable company with good benefits
    Opportunities for international travel
    Lots of good, dedicated people
Management seems, overall, to care about the employees
Great technical challenges in many areas
Some top managers really believe that change is necessary for success

ConsToo much business culture clash between US and Japan
Too many decision makers, sitting in offices all over the world, decision process is slow and ineffective. As per Japanese style, decisions are made in an off-line conversation, then forced on organization even when clear evidence of issues with the decision is presented.
Much of the "old guard" is stuck in the old way of doing things over in Japan. This ends up significantly impacting the US division.

Advice to Senior ManagementLook for ways to combine the best of the business cultures.
Start with the bottom line of what the company needs to achieve financially and work back from there to create a proactive strategy for success

    Good retirement job

    Applications Engineer (Current Employee)
    San Jose, CA

ProsSlow paced, cushy job. Good work/life balance. Hard to get fired from this place unless if you really mess up.

ConsA lot of good engineers have left Verigy after the Advantest acquisition, mostly what's left are either C and D players or folks who want a retirement job.

Advice to Senior ManagementDon't rest on your laurels just because of our HP legacy. If we don't keep up with the times and be more aggressive with innovation we'll only fall further behind.

    All decisions made in Japan

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

Prossecurity, slow paced, good place to retire

ConsMade up of 'c' and 'd' team employees. Never will be fired but low contributors. Need to be Japanese to succeed.

Advice to Senior ManagementGood luck! Watch out for Teradyne!
