I worked at Adventist Midwest Health part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great co-workers and environment. Most work well as a team and supportive when needing time off. I worked at New day Center with Dr Ready who is a caring doctor

    Cons

The pay was not good and there is A lack of leadership in supervisors. The outpatient program for co-occurring disorders needs improvement.

    Advice to Management

The outpatient program for substance abuse at New Day Center needs to build a new family program

I have been working at Adventist Midwest Health full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Wonderful staff and coworkers. Extremely easy to get along with coworkers which makes 12-13 hour days bearable. Very friendly. Coworkers feel like family and always have your back. Managers are good you can always talk to them. The employees and environment are the main positive to working here.

    Cons

Horrible pay for the amount of work you do. Over worked and understaffed too much of the time. Easy to get burnt out VERY quickly. Constantly asked to do more and never recognized that you already do an insane amount of work. Under paid no matter how good you are at your job! RNs are praised PCTs are nothing. Too much work with too little help or recognition or compensation. Exhausting.

    Advice to Management

Compensate employees appropriately and you will benefit as a hospital. Less employees will quit and the current employees will go above and beyond if they feel they are receiving what they deserve. Patient care is "#1" but with too many employees feeling overworked and underpaid patient care is naturally compromised. Therefore, the hospital as a whole takes a hit due to poor patient satisfaction which effects the entire company. Who enjoys their day when they work 12 hours with a lousy 30 minute lunch and so much to do that your head is spinning while you don't get paid nearly enough for what you endure? No one!

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Adventist Midwest Health full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The mission to extend the healing arms of Christ could not be more worthwhile but it more of a decoration than the way the C-suite runs the business.

    Cons

C-suite selection requires leader be of Adventist faith, which leaves a very small pool of qualified applicants. Leaders lack intelligence and vision. Hospitals are outdated with band-aided technology. I felt very uncomfortable treating patients with questionable technology, giving them questionable results.

    Advice to Management

Bring in leaders with vision. Have the courage of your conviction. Do not let second rate physicians dictate how day to day operations should be run.
