    Pros

Good group of people, training programs, work life balance

    Cons

Annual reviews yield similar results for high and low performers, turn over was high in some groups

Lots of Talent, But Lots of Turnover

I worked at Advics North America full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

There are a lot of very talented people working there.

    Cons

The North American branch still takes it's orders from Japan, which can lead to frustrating limitations. There are also a lot of employees that get away with coasting by with minimal work, knowing that they won't be fired because: 1) turn over is so high it would be hard to justify firing an employee, and 2) Japanese culture isn't big on firing employees. This can be frustrating for anybody that ends up picking up the slack.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Find talented people and retain them. The Japanese employment mentality is not going to work in the US. Secure more autonomy for ADVICS North America.

I worked at Advics North America full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Work hard, learn the culture and many opportunities to rise in the ranks.

    Cons

Business opportunities lost repeatedly due to American and Japanese executive management operating from what would seem to be 2 completely different strategic plans...one of which was always unclear as to who was calling the shots and what parent company interest was actually being served.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Beware of those who strive to make a name for themselves with change that only separates NA from JP.
