    Pros

Instant insurance coverage through excellus blue cross blue shield.
A very short commute to work, and a commitment to green technologies.

    Cons

A definitive line between the old guard and the new guard, aka the Advion v Biotage regular clashes most feel that we are used by Biotage.

    Advice to Management

I think it is time to sell the company to a trans national corporation that can better lead this industry into the future

    Pros

Fast paced atmosphere with high technology in a growing field. A great field to work in.

    Cons

Corportate cronyism, nepotism, new senior administration really hurt a great company. A complete lack of forsight on the part of the new administation. Director of Business Operations made wide sweeping changes that hurt the entire organisation from the ground up. You may never know who your boss will be, with the structure of the company changed arbitrarily and often.

    Advice to Management

Replace the Biotage contingency with people who actually know the business.

  5. A Solid Company Going Through Growth Related Problems But Definitely Salvageable

    Pros

There are still many learning opportunities, at least for employees above a certain level. The work is technically challenging and compensation is better than many other CROs.

    Cons

The nature of the business requires work to be completed at a fast pace, consequently it is often not possible to research problems as thoroughly as they should be.

Recent structural changes have, at least for now, effectively cut off entry level employees from many of the growth opportunities formerly available. Rapid growth made operational changes necessary. As recently as two years ago there was a small company atmosphere with an academic flavor. Unfortunately many of the changes within the services devision have been poorly implemented by a VP with no experience in operating a scientific service organization. The rapid change in environment lead to a significant departure of staff which they have so far been unable to replace. Consequently there was a rapid drop in quality over the past year which they are just starting to recover from.

    Advice to Management

You still have the basis for a solid company but need to address problems quickly before your market reputation drops too badly. Growth is necessary but needs to be handled competently. Your recent targets, although you have been mostly achieving them, are too aggressive and are damaging the core of the company. The services devision needs to be led by someone who understands the nature of the work and the skills required from the people doing the work. These are not high school dropouts assembling products on a line. They are educated and intelligent, and this it not their only option.
