I worked at Aerobics and Fitness Association of America part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    +Flexible hours
    +Amusement
+Constant contact with the CEO, no matter what position you hold.
+If you're a CEO favorite, raises and special treatment are a real possibility.

    Cons

-Flexible hours = Expected to never be at lunch when the boss wants you
-CEO micromanages, which makes progress on any project difficult at best.
-The culture, sent from the top, down, is oppressive and mistrusting.
-The company has yet to leave the 90's
    -Generally poor compensation

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider diversifying your favor. Most of these reviews are one star. This one is two because despite the company's issues, I was given a chance. The rest of the company needs that support. Also, never, NEVER, make fun of our way of life, salaries, or worldly stuff while in a large open meeting. Your employees work hard to give you a business, and they do it for pennies. Respect that. Respect them.

    Pros

I don't understand how people can hate working here! It's wonderful!

+ Located on a low traffic intersection, a large beautiful office building that overlooks GORGEOUS Sherman Oaks, California.
+ Plenty of parking both in and around the office.
+ Tons of affordable eateries in the area.
+ People are friendly and always smiling!
+ Everyone is kind and caring.
+ Everyone always lends a hand when your department is in need.
+ Management always encourages you and reports your hard work to the CEO.
+ CEO frequently gives out pay raises and recognizes employees for their accomplishments.
    + No gossip.
    + No drama.
+ Work assignments are stress free and you always feel like a part of the team!
+ People are tolerant of your behavior, sometimes I curse very loudly near the tech support team and they just smile and laugh it off.
+ Everyone gets their own office.
+ Company morale is at an all time high! TO THE MOON!
    + Paid holidays for everyone!

I have been working at Aerobics and Fitness Association of America full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

-If you have trouble finding a job, don't worry, you will be hired here. Everyone gets hired.
    -It's better than nothing
-Good job security as long as you are not still a temp

    Cons

    -No Benefits
-It is in a terrible location
    -There is no HR
    -High stress environment
-No follow-through with almost every project/situation
-You will be placed in a department that is not what you were originally hired to do
-There is no quality assurance or communication so often customers are the ones finding all of the mistakes and calling and asking about products or specials that the employees have no idea about. If you find a mistake that needs to be fixed the president will tell you to figure it out....when you have no means of solving the problem (i.e. you need access to the company files and a degree in computer programming to fix it).
-No employee evaluations. It doesn't matter how hard you work, you will end up making the same as your co-worker who does the bare minimum (because they have most likely given up). In fact, if you do a good job, congratulations! Your reward is that you now get more duties with the same pay. But it goes both ways, no one is fired from here. You can choose your own hours and when you work. You will get yelled at but that is all.
-The president does not trust anyone in any way.
-All of the employees are seen as children and you are monitored by phone, email, internet, and video surveillance. The president will ask other employees to spy on what you are doing and she has no boundaries for your personal life.
-The president has flat out said she does not care about company morale and told all the employees in a company meeting that no one will get a raise, but she wants everyone to work harder.
-You get the absolute minimum vacation time possible. In fact, if you miss the day before a vacation day you will not get paid for it. Want Christmas eve AND Christmas off? No pay for you!
-Since there are no evaluations, managers mean nothing. Everything is done through the president. So, in order to stand out to get a raise people try to snitch on other employees...even if it is not true they will make up lies to get a raise.
-This company has a very anti-employee environment. If you have questions about the manual you will be ridiculed. If you want to know how many vacation hours you have you will be ridiculed. If you need office supplies like a post-it, eraser or pencil, you have to ask for it and you will be cross-examined as to why you need these supplies.
-The president has no idea how to motivate employees. We can wear jeans on Friday, but only certain employees that are on the good list. She has a "tip" jar in which she puts money in it if we are good, except you have to share with the whole company....and you only get about 1 cent from it every six months. Maybe...no one really knows.
    -Certain employees get special treatment
-The president does not like it if you are friends with your co-workers. If you get along too well she will put you in another department. If you are caught laughing you will get yelled at. If you are are caught talking to your co-worker, even if it is a question about work, you will be scolded. In contrast certain employees are allowed to yell all day long to where you cannot hear the customer on the phone. There is at least one dramatic f-bomb dropping fight a month that is so loud you have to put your customer on hold even if you are several feet away from the argument.
-Every company meeting they have will make you hate life and put you in a deep depression.
-You will be expected to do five jobs at the same time with no reward
-You will be placed in a position where you feel pressure to compromise your ethical values
-The president asks the employees to do her personal errands like wash her car or do her Christmas shopping. It doesn't matter who you are, no one is safe from being asked to do a random assignment that makes no sense. The president wants to know about butterflies? Quick call five employees down to research butterflies and then later ask them why their other duties aren't finished.
-The president has the mentality that if one employee does something wrong, she should punish everyone that works there. This causes people to become bitter and point the finger at each other.
-The president will only try to be nice to you if you are a new employee. Once you have been there for a while you can kiss any hope that you have in life goodbye...except the hope of finding a new job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There is no management so this advice is for the president: There is value in having good company morale and a low employee turnover rate. Happy employees make happy customers. Treat your employees better and you will have a better company. Also, let the managers manage. You cannot do everything yourself.

I have been working at Aerobics and Fitness Association of America part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    - Sometimes it's air conditioned.

    Cons

    - Management badmouths you to CEO then badmouths CEO to their buddies.
    - CEO pretends she cares about you when in truth she only cares about how much work she can squeeze out of you for as little pay as possible. She doesn't respect you or your time.
    - Everyone gossips about you or about someone else.
    - Company enforces dress code for some but not for others.
    - I have a degree in computer science, guess what I do? Data entry at minimum wage.
    - Worked here for 2 years, had to fight tooth and nail for a 50 cent raise.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop pretending to be friends with people you have no qualms about throwing under the bus. We know you're two-faced.

I worked at Aerobics and Fitness Association of America full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

There are no positive things about this place.

    Cons

There are so many wrong things with this company that it would be a long list to place them all. Here are a few of them:

    - There are security cameras all around to check on you
    - No pay raises
    - No insurance, dont ask
    - No future
    - No parking
    - No benefits
    - Hardly any holidays
    - No compliments
    - Nothing you do is right

The company is run by the CEO alone, everything that goes on in the company needs to be run by her, EVERYTHING!!! If you have a problem with someone you don't go to your manager, you go to the CEO because she is the one that wants to resolve everything. There is plenty of drama to go around for an entire life. People have no respect for each other, they yell, stab each other in the back and gossip about you and everyone to everyone. There is this group of women that all they do is yell and make noise all day, they hang around the break room all day, laugh out loud and no one tells them anything. If someone else farts or coughs you get in trouble.

People get hired to work for a certain department, but end up working in data entry for months, sometimes years. You will be given jobs like envelope staffing, your degree means nothing here. I knew of a guy that had a masters degree in IT and he was pulling boxes all day from the storage.

You have people, watching you all day. They go behind your back to the CEO and tell her everything that you do. They check on your computer screen every time that they walk by you and tells the CEO what you do. At times they act really nice to you, but its only a cover. All computers are hooked up with a tracking software that checks everything that you do.

Some people try to gain your trust and then back stab you in the back. They are the biggest gossipers in the company, and they also tell the CEO everything that you do.

I bring these people up because this is the situation that goes on around here every single day. The CEO asks for opinions from people to make her company better, or in other words make her money and keep paying you the same low pay, but at the end she does what she had in mind from before, so your idea does not count.

The CEO attitude is this, there are no pay raises or insurance because the company is not doing that well. Three weeks later she buys a $60,000 BMW from the dealer cash. Buys her family a 4 million dollar house the same year. The company has money, she makes well over 10 million dollars a year, yet cant afford to pay 80 employees, which more than 50% of them work for an agency.

If you get an offer for this company do not accept it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do your job, stop looking at what others are doing just to get them in trouble. Maybe you can stand up to your department instead of throwing them under the bus.

I worked at Aerobics and Fitness Association of America full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

You can wear black jeans everyday, blue jeans on Friday only if you behave

    Cons

There is nothing great about this place. One day I saw the CEO (president, owner), fighting with another employee. The CEO was yelling at (employee) about some workshop and (employee) answer back. The CEO then proceed to yell at her back and continue to close the office door (employee office) on her face. The employee then tried to open the door and the CEO held the door close shut holding on to the door handle. They fought for the door for about 10 minutes until the CEO almost face planted on the floor. This are some of the things that go on in this company. There is no respect from any one, and no surprise, there isnt any respect from the CEO either.

There is no future, no career growth, no pay raises, no insurance, no parking (have to pay your own or park in the streets where there is hardly any parking, if you park outside you have to move your car every two hours or so if not you will get ticketed or towed away) hardly any holidays, no respect, too many people working together stuffed like sardines. We had a holiday were the entire building (12 floors) was out on holiday, except us. We had no A/C, no restrooms services and there was no one in the parking lot, we were the only cars parked there. We had to be there in case that someone will call so she could make a $100 sale that day. Phones were dead, so there was hardly any work to be done. Even like that we still had to be there. Cameras everywhere to check on what you are doing are placed for the president paranoia. Read the other reviews, they are dead on! I dont want to repeat the same things, but what other people say is the true. You might think this is a joke, sadly is not.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop gossiping about everyone and everything. Stop crying to the CEO about everything that happens in the office. Dont try to be friends with someone to find out something about them only to turn around and tell it to the CEO so you can collect brownie points.

    Pros

    None, none, none, none, none

    Cons

The company is run by a hypocrite and a person who only cares about herself and how much money she can make out of people. She makes you feel like an idiot everytime that she talks to you. She feels like if she is your mother and treats her employees like little kids. There is no future for you here. You will work for minimum wage all your time here, if you ask for a raise you are given nonsense reasons why you are not getting any money. If for some reason you do get a raise you will get .25 or .50 cents, and she will make it seem like if she is making you a favor. The previous reviews are right on, it seems over the top but its not, unfortunately that's how things work here. The president, CEO, owner and runs everything. There are managers and supervisors but none of them do nothing to help you, instead they backstab you and step all over you. If you get an offer to work here run! Do not look back! There is no future for no one here. I have never seen so many unhappy people in one place. Its depressing and stressful. There are cameras that follow your every move and you also are tracked to see what you do on your computer, all your keystrokes are recorder with a tracker software. There is constant yelling from the CEO to her employees and to any one that does not agree with her. Do not come up with up to date ideas, or ideas that are fresh or that they will simply work. Your idea will get shutdown and the CEOs idea will be the only one that will work.
