    Pros

Flexible work hours, given enough time to do things right,

    Cons

Communication of overall group and planning is minimal.

    Advice to Management

Include back end engineering in planning process for products.

    Pros

Aeroflex contained several individual small companies ranging from microprocessors to motors. One of these groups was the motion control group. Within this group is the Naples Slip Ring Group.
The Pros are that Cobham acquired and toke control in Sept 2014. So hopefully some of the legacy of poor program performance & quality will be corrected.

    Cons

Attempted consolidation of NY and Naples groups led to numerous job losses and cuts. Very weak and outdated engineering departmental structure. Lack of attention to engineering detail and analysis. Lack of control of end product resulting in numerous quality escapes.
Skeleton engineering staff trying to run complex programs without sufficient seasoned veterans.
Constant worries of job stability/security. Most programs never meet delivery dates.

    Advice to Management

Time to revamp the engineering department structure & invest in the future instead of using staff layoffs as means to remedy short term financial cash flow.

    Pros

Location in central Long Island is easily accessible from may areas.
    Great group of employees.
Good benefit selection and PTO & holiday policy.

    Cons

has been taken over by a UK company leading tp many changes in the Corportae office.
Lost that family feel with all the changes and movement of personnel.

    Advice to Management

Try to keep the old Aroflex culture. It's always tough when a new group comes in but the secure working enviroment has been severly disrupted.

    Pros

If you are starving to death, work here.

    Cons

The only thing that matters is the numbers at end of quarter and end of year. They wil do anything legal or i borderline illegal to get there. They make deals with customers and verbally give them extended terms to purchase. The CEO has been known to load merchandise in the back of his truck so they can say it left the building and recognize the revenue. He is also a bully. I am surprised upper management had not been prosecuted because of their accounting and sales practices.

    Advice to Management

Treat people with respect and be honest. That is something you are incapable of.

    Pros

Pros? Maybe now that Cobham has taken over, they will take out the trash, but historically speaking; does that ever happen?

    Cons

    Antiquated EVERYTHING!
    Test systems running Windows 95
    No MRP system
    No ERP environment
    Greenbar reports (1970's much)
    No training
Middle management is feeling around in the dark
    Health insurance is ridiculously overpriced
Treated as scum if you don't work 80 hours a week
No sense of delivery dates (unless customer gets directly involved - OFTEN)
Number game, the only thing that matters ever is $$$
    No tact
    No professionalism
OLD workforce that are set in their ways
    The place is a mess
The facilities are essentially falling apart
    "Just enough" attitude
Management involved in granular level - should be in larger picture level(s)

    I would NOT recommend it.

    Advice to Management

Where is the tact? Where is the professionalism? Middle management doesn't act or treat others in a way that is consistent with being in a professional and courteous environment. Middle management makes decisions based on EMOTION and not merit. Where is the real continuous improvement? Where are the lean principals? How do YOU expect to survive in 2015?

Generally good but quality and work/life balance disappears at the end of every quarter

    Pros

High tech product line gives a lot of opportunity for learning new things.
Generally good people to work with.
Merger with Cobham potentially offers better benefits, more sales opportunities, investment in business, and a more cleanly run company.

    Cons

At the end of the quarter, nothing else matters except getting stuff out the door.
Excessively lean resources cripples getting stuff done.
Benefits: No 401k matching, $1200 spousal surcharge for spouses on medical insurance who work.
Senior management offers no support/guidance. The only time you hear from them is at the end of the quarter when they have their hands out.
Antiquated purchasing, materials control, MRP system.

    Advice to Management

Upgrade the MRP system to make it more productive.
Other things matter besides the end of the quarter...
