I worked at Aeroplan as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

Great pay and benefits. Many projects in the pipeline that will keep everyone busy and employed. Plenty of work that can really improve your skill sets.

    Cons

Management and leadership especially in IT is political. Leadership hires doers not thinkers. Usually chaos ensues when deadlines are missed. Putting out fires is common and sometimes an unlucky soul(s) will pay the price for leadership mismanagement. Lack of accountability by managers and delivering mediocrity.
High turnover in IT. After 1-2 years you feel the need to move on to some other challenge.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of micromanagers and becoming actively involved down to the agents in the lines of business. Need for diversity at all levels.

    Pros

Great people. Great Location. Work there as a consultant so cannot comment on benefits. Commercial side new to hiring consultants but overall in the company consultants are well treated.

    Cons

Impression of lack of long term vision. Projects funding authorized late in the year but for delivery the same year. Very waterfall in all aspects of the projects cycle.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reduce paper work . Get more agile. Eliminate layers. Duplication of tasks & responsibilities per project. Lack of clarity on RACI.
