Worked for these guys a few years ago and really got thrown under the bus.

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsCan't think of any. During my time here I was hired and fired easy and physically handed a paycheck each week.

ConsDirect supervisor here seem to have just learned how to tie a tie and possibly never worked an honest day before.

Advice to Senior ManagementHire middle management with real life work experience.

    Former Aerotek Recruiter

    Recruiter (Former Employee)
    Baltimore, MD

Pros- Money making potential if you're willing to work really hard but only if you're put in the right department
    - Motivating atmosphere
    - Great experience for new college grads

Cons- Overworked (7:30 am - at least 6 pm)
    - Unfaithful hirees will cost you money
    - Takes a lot of effort to find and keep one good employee
    - If you don't produce then you're done....most people don't last long

Advice to Senior ManagementBe practical and focus on quality more than quantity

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend

    Engineer, Detroit area

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

    Pros- Friendly, professional recruiters
    - Convenient way to start career and gain experience

Cons- Benefits/pay lower than equivalent position as a direct employee (obviously this is usually a given for contractual work)
    - 401k did not have any matching
    - Insurance was CDHP or HDHP, can't remember..
    - They have a lot of wage data across many companies and positions.. They are experts at salary negotiation. Since it was my first engineering job, I really needed experience and they were able to negotiate me down. They indicated that there was a good chance the customer would not accept it. I since learned that wasn't really true. I wasn't asking for much more. The customer would have paid the same amount for me regardless.
    - Payroll felt a little disorganized. They made a mistake and told me about it almost 6 months later. I had to pay them back (I hadn't really noticed).
    - The yearly raise was not a real raise - it just kept pace with inflation
    - Usually not as stable as a direct position

Advice to Senior ManagementTime reporting/payroll was kind of a hassle. The benefits could also be improved.

The pay was a plus. However, Aerotek has not been good with keeping me informed about current job opportunities.

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
    Huntsville, AL

ProsThe pay rate was pretty good.

ConsSome of the recruiters were more concerned with maintaining their relationship with their clients over treating their employees fairly, even in situations where they knew their client was the party at fault.

Advice to Senior ManagementDo a better job of taking care of your good workers. Your organization will benefit from this in the long run.

    Consulting for Aerotek

    Lead Software Engineer (Former Employee)
    Santa Clara, CA

ProsThe local office seems to have a lot of contacts in the local Defense industry, making it easier to get a contract in that industry.

ConsOnce you are placed there is very little contact with Aerotek after that. They offer no benefits, including training.

Advice to Senior ManagementEncourage the line managers to get in touch with their staff to monitor how the contract is progressing.

Fun environment. I like everyone in my office. Takes you out of your comfort zone

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsGood people, good benefits (mostly), opportunity to earn money (depending on office and market)

ConsLow pay, very high stress, long hours, tough market, micro-management

Advice to Senior ManagementDon't forget where you came from, increase base pay and commission, watch the micro-management and I think recruiters will be happier and perform better. There is no doubt a huge turnover rate at Aerotek. Even people who perform well are leaving which is concerning.
