I have been working at Aerotek full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Aerotek is a great place for someone who is still relatively early in your career. You get to learn a lot about how business is done. There is a lot of young people, so it is definitely a fun atmosphere and you get closer with your coworkers than you would at most other jobs. As far as compensation goes, if you are willing to get out of your comfort zone and develop continually, you can make a whole lot of money

    Cons

Hours can be a bit long, as you work in a production based environment. Also, if you aren't doing very well, you won't make a whole lot outside of your base pay. Benefits are expensive

I worked at Aerotek full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

A weekly paycheck. Pay is usually decent for the work. Not much else.

    Cons

Benefits lousy and overpriced. No HR support once working for an assignment. Company lies and misrepresents job duties, vacation accrual, and seem to only be really good at recruiting. Once you get placed, they could not care less about you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire recruiters who have knowledge and experience in the areas they are recruiting for. People shouldn't be placed into a job just because it's open. Had several recruiters who didn't have a clue as far as my previous work experience and skills.

    Pros

Recruiters are personable, and thoughtful. The occasional phone call to check on you. The longer you work with Aerotek the better the relationship becomes.

    Cons

Number of offices could cost you a 1 to 2 hour drive to close your deals.

    Pros

    Decent first position
    Younger work environment

    Cons

    60+ Hr work weeks
    Managers are terrible
    Trigger happy on fires
    Recruiters are worthless to them
Even after years of service, don't respect you

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Your DBO's and Account Managers drink the kool-aid. Find people that think different, not all the same. They tend to gang up

Easy way to get a job, they're very understanding with anything that happens, and they work with you to help you and their client.

    Cons

You're a temp employee. The usual- uncertainty with jobs, sometimes you get a crap job, etcetera

    Pros

My former recruiter from out of town was great but the office here in Jacksonville dropped the ball

    Cons

Your recruiter will forget about you in between jobs. You have to call them before they call you

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

eat Stay in touch with your employees as a recruiter or account manager. Some of them dpend on you to find them work if you dont call that depresses the client and will make him or her go elsewhere

I worked at Aerotek full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Fast placement! If you are in desperate need of a position NOW they can help find a slot, but you will be highly underpaid and expected to have zero grievances at all.

    Cons

This is a long list, so I will summarize as best I can...

"Misscommunication" is used as an excuse to get potential contractors to decline other more lucrative offers during the hiring process, then lower the status or pay once you have declined said other offers. They remain polite, but if you don't have your offer in writing then you SHOULD NOT TRUST ANYTHING THEY SAY!

The positions are sometimes misrepresented. I have worked 3 slots through TEKsystems / AeroTEK and 2 of them were accurately represented, but underpaid. The 3rd and most recent was both misrepresented, and underpaid. Plus the above item occurred which was a major deal breaker.

They are unwilling to negotiate if presented with a hard issue. I am a direct person and my directness was called unprofessional after pointing out the issues I encountered. On the first attempt (very polite), they tried to convince me that my memory was wrong and that I was the problem instead of addressing any of the issues raised. The conversation had to be ended. I emailed them when it got to a point where the verbal abuse coming in from customers was beyond acceptable, leading to a situation where the pay was just not worth the abuse. I emailed them in honorable fashion to inform that the situation was unacceptable at that rate and that I would be contacting my lawyer to see what my options were in cases of bait & switch recruiting practices. I specified that I would be entertaining other offers and the entire time I was there I kept my performance stats to the highest standard. I did not let the back end issues affect my work, but they didn't care. They jumped straight to ending the contract instead of trying to de-escalate or address any of the issues. The only subject matter in the calls was trying to state that they were within the law and again trying to convince me that my memory was bad.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I can only advise that you develop process to confirm employment status, benefits, and pay rate IN WRITING before allowing recruiters to contact potential contractors with acceptance notifications. There is WAY too much leeway allowed for your recruiters to lie in order to get over qualified people into underpaid positions for sake of their commission. Your company and myself had a good rapport until this position and I will never ever recommend a position through your company again because of this.

Also, more attention to detail must occur between your client company and yourself in regards to the EXACT role that you are sourcing personnel for. My case was for a "technical support" position that they sourced network engineers for. Not a single role anywhere in the client company involved a network engineer and the role I was placed in was pure customer service with minor technical troubleshooting that could be done by anyone who owned an X-box and had to connect it to wi-fi with further minor understanding of AC electrical circuits. The AC electrical was easily taught in training as well making that almost inconsequential to the position.
