I worked at Aetna full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – Flexibility, people, tuition reimbursement, training, good bosses
Cons – lack of job opportunities so it was hard to move up the latter
Advice to Senior Management – none
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

I worked at Aetna
Pros – Senior Management has strong values, and the corporate motto of keeping the customer at the center of everything they do. This is achieved through Integrity, Quality Service and Value, Excellence and Accountability, and Employee Engagement.
They are supportive in terms of ongoing internal education and have a strong methodology for development.
Cons – The review process often does not reflect the actual work that is being done, and must fit into certain matrixes that do not translate into the real world. Also, if an employee does not agree with their review, there is no opportunity to appeal. When there is a conflict with a boss, HR suggests that the employee "suck it up".
Advice to Senior Management – The Aetna Way is a great ideal, and something I believe in strongly. Unfortunately I did not see this philospophy being lived out by many of my coworkers, especially managers.

I have been working at Aetna
Pros – job security. they fire no one.
Cons – they treat the lowest paid employees like peons. they dump more work on you during the busyest time of the year. most regions are all for the work at home yet our management for our region is dead set againsted it. He admitts that he is old school when it comes to w.a.h. With the price of gas he should embrace it, especially for us lower paid employee's that are limited to how much of an salary increase we get.
Advice to Senior Management – let those that want to work from do so and stop being so old school. the days of mirco management are counter productive in this day and age. when you have a good group of employee's let them know it buy there salary increase and or bonus'.
