    I worked at Aetna

    Pros

You get a crappy paycheck. You get a desk, and a computer and one monitor (most people have two, you have to be a "favorite" to get two).

    Cons

Harassment by coworkers, management and anyone else is always visible. Supervisors rarely seen. Management pre-selects job candidates. Favorites get the job even if they are not qualified. If you're a regular person you won't get the job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management needs to be fired. Start with real new people that know what they are doing.

I worked at Aetna as a contractor (less than a year)

    Pros

Management always willing to hear you out on an issue. We had a New Business OPS Coordinator hired and although she was green behind the gills whenever I provided examples on flawed policies she found a middle ground approach that worked for everyone. Manager was very nice and would always work with schedule but she needs to cut the dead weigh with her highly combative senior case managers.

    Cons

Management team understanding but extremely disorganized. Policy changed on the fly on a daily, sometimes hourly, basis without proper notification. Policies were so complex that even the manager needed clarification which seemed counterproductive. Team leads worked from home and the senior case manager was the source of conflict in nearly all issues. This individual although highly knowledgeable was unapproachable (constantly shifting moods depending on who he was talking to and when he was talking to them) and made highly unprofessional statements which bordered on harassment. This individual kept issues about daily operations from the manager and whenever there was a real issue the senior case manager would conveniently disappear. Along with the other two senior case managers many contractors, not just myself, felt minimized and disrespected. Following protocol I spoke with my manager and although a few issues were resolved by large the full-time employees had free range - No checks, no balances.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hold your full-time staffers accountable for their unprofessional actions and get the management team outside of their desk to observe and understand the process from the top-to-bottom. Basically, Aetna needs to cut dead weight.

I worked at Aetna full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Cafeteria. Good orientation except if you are having trouble. Do not work orientation around your needs
Employees are very friendly and are helpful

    Cons

Orientation. Very complicated computer program. Terminate you after 30Days after telling you you have 90 days! My holidays are ruined now without a job

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Instead of changing preceptors ( I had 3). Stick with one. Too hard to learn when they all tell you different ways to do a task. Don't just listen to you preceptors supervisor should see with her own eyes spend time with employee to get a better understanding ,
