Pros
Not very hard to hit your goals, and a lot of diversity. Do work with you on personal and professional issues if they like you.
Cons
Extremely political. Management is very poorly informed, and the company is ran horribly. You can get help if people like you, if not then you will never move up in the company. Management never knows whats going on, and they are always changing something. However your performance will still be based on what the new rule of the day is even if you had not heard it yet
Advice to Senior Management
Management should not hire their friends or who they like. They should hire people who are qualified. Its not every Business Unit in ACS, just the particular one I worked or. Also they should never hire from outside, because you can do management in this job unless you first were a customer care representative. Definitely hire from within.
Pros
The ability to learn how Texas Medicaid program works for both clients and providers.
The ability to take time off as needed with short notice
Cons
There is not any communication between leadership and the employees.
They constantly state how the company is financially struggling so they are unable to give pay increases but we receive emails stating how well the company is doing.
There really is not any room for advancement if you are not in a suck up.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to your employees suggestions.
Open the lines of communications
Pros
There over-time
They will re-hire during heavy work seasons
Constant access to your supervisor
Cons
pay is bad
the regulations change daily
communication between management is bad
Training is a waist of time which results in less pay
they do not take into your account your personal life when they decide to do shift changes, which are random
Advice to Senior Management
communicate clearly within management.
give a new policy a little more than two days before changing a regulation.
Pros
Great pay is offered especially in comparison to similar job titles in the area. Technology driven company with very in-depth training.
Cons
Management treated employees as replaceable which left a void for job loyalty. By promoting based on favoritism many highly capable employees left for better opportunities.
Advice to Senior Management
Avoid letting employees feel as if any small issue might cause them their job. Place trust in them and they will return the favor.
Pros
Nice work environment, good and considerate managers, opportunity to learn a lot
Cons
Too much middle management, Poor career plan, no wage hikes, you can be stuck working in your job forever
Advice to Senior Management
Don't forget the little people, they are the reason why the company runs.
Pros
co-workers are great to work with. I have met many professions that are doing a great job in an extremely stressful work environment
Cons
I never know from one day to the next if you I will have a job. This creates low moral for the employees.
Advice to Senior Management
Often the answer to an issue3 is not to let the front line workers go and increase the number of managers.
Pros
You get to meet a lot of nice people, they have fun contests and different activities to keep employees motivated.
Cons
Each position is extremely repetitive. If you don't mind doing the same thing over and over you'll love it.
Pros
ACS was located close to my home and supported the work of a company and industry I was very familiar with. They advertise that they are always hiring and it was a great place to work.
Cons
I finished three of their six week training program. The trainer had a daily "wrap" technique in his teaching style which was entertaining. He answered all questions asked. I needed to be able to review the material during the evening but we were not permitted to take any documents from the class room. There was 30 minutes before shift and each 15 minute break and each 30 minute lunch were the only times we could sit and review material. They had a three strikes and you are out policy. I burned through two strikes during the first exam after one week so every day I went to work I was on my guard knowing that I had just one more strike and I was out. By the end of my third week, I incurred my third strike.
Advice to Senior Management
I was hired very quickly, felt like you were checking for bodies that breathed which qualified them to walk through the door at ACS as an employee. There was nothing else about the skills I brought to your company that I felt was valued. All I had to do was sit for six weeks and fill in the blanks on the various tests. Tests in this kind of environment are better used as tools for learning rather than tools for eliminating employees. You may consider raising your expectations during the hiring process and take a little more time to review and consider quality of experience and a lot less on quantity of new hires. I felt like I was some of the mud you throw against the wall, those that stick stay employed.
Pros
Great place to work for
Good career opportunities
Good growth potential
Good visiblity into the services business
Cons
Lack of merit increase has resuled in low morale and attrition
Advice to Senior Management
Strongly consider market correction and merit increases for employees
Pros
A blend of work independence combined with strong support from your team and client.
Cons
Little to nothing in the way of compensation and bonuses for past work and potential future achievements.
Advice to Senior Management
Push harder for your employees to receive compensation for the hard work they've done.
