Constant reorg with bad senior management

    Software Engineer (Former Employee)
    Austin, TX

ProsThe people on the team are friendly and mostly good to work with. The start and end of a work day is flexible (even though the number of work hours can still be long). Working from home is possible.

ConsLots of shifts in focus which is also reflected in frequent useless reorganizations which disrupts working teams. Senior management does not have any vision nor show that they value their employees. There is very little rightful accountability. Priority is only based on the bottom line with disregard for technology, quality, and talent growth/retention.

This place is hell on earth

    Slave Labor (Former Employee)

ProsNot one single pro could be applicable to this job.

ConsNo recognition, no raises, no fair treatment, you cannot eat lunch in your car, bring your purse or phone inside,no books, no knitting, no candy, nothing! No paper, no pen. You sit for hours waiting. If someone reviews you badly, even if you pass to another dept, you lose all of your bonus for weeks. No sick time or you are hassled, and you must work OT or will lose your job. This is worse than a prison cell.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet a clue. This is not a place of incarceration. Your turn over should tell you that your work place is not working. People do not even stay through training most of the time. A miserable and depressing workplace that pays only $10 an hour with no raises EVER.

A good company to work towards growing your business skills.

    Operations (Former Employee)

ProsRapid promotion is possible if willing to work hard and relocate
Good mentorship is possible (not a given)
    Professional methodology
Liked co workers - good people and committed

ConsSome remote managers not in tune with employees - I have gotten reviews from managers I have not had a real conversation with in months. This could have been due to growing pains, and managers being overwhelmed, not sure.

Advice to Senior ManagementStructured review process has no worth, if there is not a real connection with management.

Less than a year of frustration and disappointment

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsI can't really identify many positives at all from this experience. The benefits were scant but inexpensive, and I was grateful for the biweekly paycheck.

ConsPoor management, lack of focus and direction; there was a continuous move to outsmart the customer, or at least shut them up, instead of dedicating efforts to providing a high service quality; employee growth is an absolute farce, as it's assumed that growth will come from commissions, and no other avenue for job satisfaction; folks in higher level positions will almost always sacrifice those below them in order to make themselves and their financial results look better.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop telling your employees to "take away their (the customer's) power" and start investing in resources and best practices that will allow your company to provide best in class service. Cheaper isn't always better, and savvy customers can almost always see the difference.

    Burn out

    Product Manager (Former Employee)
    Dallas, TX

ProsThe best reason to work here is people are moved out of the company quickly so if you are good and can keep your job you will move up.

ConsPeople are constantly being laid off or fired so upper management can often be clueless as to what the business is actually about.

Advice to Senior ManagementLearn what the business is about before cutting off heads.

Office politic brought down business and the culture

Senior Systems Development Specialist (Former Employee)
    Austin, TX

ProsSome of the managers from previous company before ACS bought are good, but they can not help their employees much since upper management level are worse!!! The only pros now is you can work from home.

ConsThe company culture used to be very good, and employees were happy; however, after ACS was bought by Xerox and some other new senior managers were hired, the working environment was no longer a good place for employee to work. This happened because office politics. We had pay cut and no raise for 4 years. Only some employees who had a tied connections with stronger/higher management levels would be promoted to get raises even if many employees who had an excellent performance would be ignored. Even for the employees with higher seniority and working for long time, their salaries are lower than a new hired employee!!!

Currently, ACS, a Xerox Company, just want to be a middle guy that gets contract from US government and outsource back to other company. Xerox is out sourcing "employee resources" to an India company from which they can sponsor (H1B visa) and bring lots of new employees from India and China with lower salaries come to US office to work, gain knowledge from us and lay off current employees in ACS offices. Upper management levels and "stock holder" do not care for employees any more. So many talent employees were leaving the office.

No fun to work in this environment any more!

Advice to Senior ManagementManagement level should know that they're better treat employees with fairness and taking care of employees. Do not base on the current economics down time of US and "stock holders" requests to push employees' work and life down to the drain. Employees with knowledge and great attitudes and work ethnics have been leaving ACS, a Xerox company.

They are willing to let the best people go to competitors instead of paying them what they are worth.

    Director of Operations (Former Employee)

ProsSome really good people work there

ConsThey are so cheap they don't s pend any money on their employees. You have to bring your own office supplies. No raises in 5 years. They are willing to let good people leave instead of paying them so constant turnover is a problem. They end up spending more on constant training of new people and mistakes from the new people and the mediocre ones who stay.

Advice to Senior ManagementInvest in your people and reward your high performers.
