Pros
Pay is above average. Innovation focus is strong. They allow most management positions to work out of a home office.
Cons
Layoffs always around the corner. They squeeze every drop of sweat out of you. Years since anyone received a merit increase.
Pros
a pay check and that is about it!
Cons
Corruptness from the word go. Non-compliant in every area of the business.
Advice to Senior Management
Leave the company and let someone with consulting experience take over. RIF's layoffs, PIR's so where' the positive. All the execs are waiting it out for one reason and that is for the Xerox payout. Other than that they could care or less. Xerox should sale ACS or there will be major problems ahead.
Pros
Flexibility with work schedule (i.e. ability to work from home)
Front line people are nice
Immediate managers were nice
Starting pay was not bad
Cons
Unreasonable work schedules/deadlines/commitments - employees are often double/triple booked into meetings, meetings are scheduled all day (so when do you work?), meetings also held into the evening, and you may not even have time to take a lunch break!
Management seems not to care about employees
Constant employee turnover
Employees have not had raises in YEARS
Poor benefits package - only 10 paid vacation days, no 401k match, poor insurance coverage
No work/life balance - you need an act of congress passed to take a day off
Poor company morale, which is reflected in attitudes of some employees (my second week with the company, an entire team of developers quit. Not a good look for ACS)
Employees mandated to take a week of furlough leave
No vacation or sick time payout upon resignation (if you are thinking of leaving the company, take all your time off or you will lose it)
Advice to Senior Management
If you take better care of your employees, they'll stick around ;) Hiring more people is NOT the answer to all the company's ills. Test and develop products thoroughly before releasing them - the development schedule that ACS is currently following is NOT working because it is RUSHED. Good product + happy employees = higher profit margin for ACS. Apparently some of the MBA's in management missed that lesson in Management 101.
Pros
Majority of coworkers throughout the company are very good people.
Cons
no growth, horrible HR department, etc
Pros
Exposure to technologies and international cultures.
Cons
Work culture is very poor
Advice to Senior Management
Focus on people first
Pros
It was a job that was very insecure with all of their 'RIF's' of emplyees. A terrible way to run a large corporation..
Cons
Unfair salary practices. They take money away and don't give raises for years and years. No career growth available.
Advice to Senior Management
Wake-up! You need to change your management style and practices.
Pros
Customer Service is very important to ACS and customer satisfaction a top priority
Stable work environment with knowledgeable employees
Team oriented work allowing significant interaction with client.
Cons
Compensation and benefits slightly below average.
No true product was offered. ACS strictly service-based revenue.
Management was not always forthcoming about concerns.
Advice to Senior Management
Provide a stronger pay-for-performance package with bonus opportunity.
Place stronger emphasis on a product to sell. This may now occur since Xerox bought the company.
Pros
My manager made my life easier by allowing work from home for all team members for most of the time except for weekly meetings. The position says clearly that no remote work authorized,.
Cons
Overall company work culture is very beauracratic and slow to get done and not caring for employees. I had a hard time getting any work done is very slow.
Advice to Senior Management
Need to be more emploee oriented. Work happens rather slow takes months to get started and I did not get a phone for 5 months.
Pros
A lot of highly-skilled, hard working, good people work there and try to make a difference.
Cons
The company seems to have no use for innovation and employees that care about the company's reputation and customer satisfaction. They are losing IT Outsourcing customers frequently and cannot produce new sales in ITO. Further, no real investments have been made in the systems management infrastructure and technical service capabilities are lacking.
This is due mainly to the fact that most positions have been off-shored. This company does not understand that it takes an investment of time, employees and money to be successful and unfortunately, have become bottom-feeders. What they do understand is how to show a profit for share holders, not by generating new revenue, but by continually cutting costs. 10% per year target. What happens after 10 (10x10%=100%) years of this? Unfortunately, this is now severly hampering their ability to compete in the market place outside of BPO.
Data Centers are construed to be better and of higher tier levels than they really are. This has left many customers in the literally in the dark and losing millions because they cannot process tranactions and data due to power outages. This has even impacted major Healthcare customers. Don't worry about the patients, just get the dollars... Overall, people have no value at ACS.
Advice to Senior Management
If the only focus for ACS (especially now with the acquisition by Xerox) is Business Process Outsourcing, please jettison the rest of the lines of business. What works for BPO, does not necessarily work for all lines of business. You preach the need for innovative ideas, but you do nothing with them and don't innovate. This has become what once was a technology based company that is now far behind in technology.
Pros
Freedom of movement and action. They let you fail or succeed without much over the shoulder.
Cons
Poor communication - very low regard for employees when reductions in force are needed.
Advice to Senior Management
Know who your people are that contribute to the good of the company, and not just their own pocket books.
