Pros
Great opportunity for growth and advancement. Company future is deservedly optimistic and sure to keep presenting new opportunities. Family atmosphere and proud work force.
Cons
The company feels like a strong competitor and vibrant place to work, yet some of the more modern, alternative benefits are still evolving.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep going strong and providing us opportunities for growth personally and professionally. Great family atmosphere should be guarded and fostered as the company grows. More competitive benefits and pay will be expected as more talent comes on.
Pros
It seemed like it would be a unique place to work, since the concept of the hotel is modern and upscale.
Cons
Management did not have any consideration for employees at all. They had said they would keep the employees who worked for the previous hotel group. Then, they fired most of the managers, cut some part-time workers' hours- without any notice, laid off some of the kitchen staff- giving them about 3 days notice.
Not surprisingly, some long-time managers quit soon after all this happened, and then some of the staff followed suit as well. My particular manager was not honest about the situation, did not communicate anything, and treated their workers as if they were lacked the intelligence to realize what was happening.
Advice to Senior Management
I can only hope they have new management there that is honest, professional, and who values employees.
About the CEO: I didn't know him well, but I can only assume the CEO knew of what was going on at his hotel.
Pros
great benefits, good hours compared to other hotel companies
Cons
keeping underperforming managers on hurts the team
Advice to Senior Management
Don't punish your lowest seniority level employees by your upper management decisions
Pros
Good enployee development program and competitive benefit and compesation package.
Cons
balance between work and life needs improvement.
Advice to Senior Management
good management team with above average leadership skills ,
Pros
They are a company in its growth phase, which is attempting to satisfy its employees. The corporate office moved to a new location, which is in a more vibrant area of the city. Low-level employees are moved up through the ranks if they work hard and prove themselves. Hotel rooms are gorgeous and there is a friends and family rate plan for the employees to take advantage of.
Cons
The company has proven time and time again that it does not value education; instead, it would rather move up low people through the ranks. So, if somebody starts out as a housekeeper or guest service agent; then, their career path is made. Additionally, the company claims to value work/life balance; however, the company's actions have disproved its theory.
Advice to Senior Management
Look around and see who your truly dedicated employees are and appreciate them. There seems to be communication lost between upper management and what actually occurs. Upper management has the right ideas and desires for the company. Additionally, inform employees if certain items will not be reoccurring; i.e. no company picnic for 2008 and/or no noon Fridays in the summer.
