I have been working at Aflac as a contractor for more than 5 years

    Pros

The company is hands-down the most ethical insurance company I have ever run across and have always been proud to represent them.

    Cons

The sales structure leaves MUCH to be desired. Virtually no admin support unless you hire one yourself. Creates inconsistency in businesses experience. Commission only... that can be a pro and a con...LOL

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provide admin support at the regional or district level that is available to the sales force

I have been working at Aflac full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Company support and product brochures are free. You determine your own schedule. 100% Commission sales job. Working with policyholders to handle claims is rewarding.

    Cons

100% Sales job. Insurance is easy to sell if you can get past the "gatekeeper".

Former Employee - Insurance Agent in Santa Barbara, CA

I worked at Aflac full-time for less than a year

    Pros

In Santa Barbara, excellent training, very good support especially during the first 6 months, if you have the money to fall back on until you get a solid enough account base there is great potential for a solid annual income. Plus freedom from being an independent agent.

    Cons

There is no annual salary or hourly wage, only commission based income. This is great once you get your business going, if you have the money set aside to fall back on until you get there which can typically take about a year or possibly more.

Provide constant support to new agents in the first 3-6 months or most will not make it.

I worked at Aflac as a contractor for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great field training and help getting launched. Important that you are self funded because field sales grows slowly over time. Business to business sales means most work happens M-F 8a-5p

    Cons

You are completely responsible for paying your own taxes and business expenses ... Health insurance, etc. there is no training for how to manage this aspect of your business. There is a lot of territorialism among field leaders

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be realistic with recruits about first two years when it comes to earnings. Regional Coordinators and District Coordinators tend to be too pie in the sky

    Pros

Could come and go as pleased. No real accountability.

    Cons

Made $9k first year, and was an award winner for consistent production...you do the math. They charge reps for the ducks, btw.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice
