Pros
You see the results of your organizing everyday in your conversations with them during housecalls, rallies, meetings, etc. You build strong ties within the community.
Cons
you must commit your personal and work life to the movement.
Advice to Senior Management
For the national office, don't treat your young OITs as disposables, get a chance to know them one on one. geniunely show you care about them and the movement.
Pros
flex time is good. time off is good , holidays off is good
Cons
salary is not up to national salary
micro managed
Advice to Senior Management
help out the council staff
Pros
Helping others with their work site problems and giving State and County Employees the opportunity towards more respect at work.
Cons
Management was very mean to staff and offered no pension like management had.
Rediculous turnover rate.
Focus was not on growth of the organization.
Advice to Senior Management
Be better to staff
Focus on growth of the organization and retaining competent staff
Pros
Great benefits, decent pay, the perks are great but of course if a job pays well it demands a lot and that is we travel constantly and work A LOT.
Cons
Since I travel constantly I am not allowed to have a life. Very corporate atmosphere. Rather boring job as I do the same thing everyday. The management doesn't involve us in strategic planning at all, each person has their little job to do and the box is very narrow.
Advice to Senior Management
Training and stop being so corporate - involve your workers in this process. Follow your own model.
Pros
the mission of the organization
Cons
the work load, lack of respect from senior management
Advice to Senior Management
invest in young organizers, let them have a life
