    Pros

    - Great Location in the Waterloo Tech Park
    - On site gym
    - Great area for outdoor activities in the summer. Lots of Parkland.

    Cons

    - Lowest avg salaries for developers in this area.
    - Very low morale for developers
    - management from Team lead on up is in cover your butt mode.
    - Company has seemed to stop severance packaging people out. Just relying on poor environment to entice people to leave
    - flailing products in the tar pits of extinction

    Advice to Management

    - too little too late

    Pros

    Not many. Pay is OK,.

    Cons

    No merit increases since 2008. Benefit's are being clawed back. Local managers are good, Head management in Europe is completely out of touch with the employee's. Every year, people ask "What about merit increases". Every year, we hear the same thing, "No". Wait until next year, we will see. Guess what, next year is never good.
    The company is putting all of their eggs in one basket in the form of a buggy, poor performing piece of software.

    Advice to Management

    Listen to your employee's. We have supported the company by effectively taking a pay cut every year (no merit increase, but inflation keeps going). Support your employee's for once instead of always doing everything for the shareholders. I would not invest in Agfa because of the way they treat employee's.

    Pros

    No micromanagement but I think the days of regional managers sitting at home and not bothering anyone is over.

    Cons

    Rumors of middle management being eliminated to make room for more support in front of the customers. You have an acount manager, regional manager, local service support and GSC. We have too many positions that should be supporting the customer but are not. Regional Manager is not ever seen, Account manager is only seen when they want to sell something and local support is all over the place trying to wear many hats. GSC is being slammed and yelled at for all of the above lack of support and communication with the client.

    Advice to Management

    Eliminated regional managers and local IT support they should be resolving issues via remote support. Most of IT calls via local service are bogus made up calls to make it look like they are busy. Regionalize via multistate your imaging support for DR. CR and printing can be outsourced and still make money on each call, use the Konica model. Account managers do an excellent job getting in the face of the client and if not replace that person. Too much fat that you can't afford.

    Unfortunately it seems unlikely that Agfa will survive . Belgium is not in touch with US market.

    Pros

    Name was a staple in imaging...(although these days most folks have no idea what Agfa does)

    Cons

    Zero leadership. Ostrich-behavior. Customer is rarely put first

    Advice to Management

    Either commit to the industry by hiring positions needed to support customers or just sell the business.

    Pros

    Most people I work with at the lower level are great and are very talented. I really enjoy interacting with them. There are a few odd ones, or corporate climbers, but not that many.

    Cons

    Mid and upper management politics and a half. Decisions are made based on someone's ego and not based on where the company should head.
    Good people keep leaving.
    Struggles financially, cuts corners resulting in making things worse.
    Good luck getting a pay raise or one that is more than inflation.

    Advice to Management

    I'd say "good luck" but that won't do the trick. You now need a miracle, and you need to fire yourself and bring in selfless (not selfish) leaders.

    I think that the guy at the top knows what he is doing, but too many people below him are sub-par and/or an opportunist.

    Pros

    Nothing real. Befits quoted by the others...they have to compare with other same rank companies. They are real basics

    Cons

    Finger pointing.
    Unfair often blames to low level employees.
    No carreer paths no investment in personnel.
    Old staff with outdated ideas.
    Racism.
    No respect for workers right.
    Intimidations.

    Advice to Management

    They shouls be near the employee and listen what hell they are in.

    Maybe the benefits but thats it

    Union environment, poor management, finger pointing, micro managing, no raises or bonuses for salaried employees, lots of overtime not paid

    look into the situation in Dayton Facility...its a wreck!

    Pros

    This place was a hidden gem in the tech employer landscape of Waterloo. Great people, Great Compensation, great benefits...5 years ago.

    Cons

    Rounds and rounds of layoffs. Provincial government cash injection is gone. No raise (or even cost of living adjustment) in 5 years. The lucky ones get great severance packages. Company turns on a dime with a new figurehead every couple of years and the slide continues.

    Advice to Management

    Try to get some ROI before reinventing product lines before the have had a chance to make some profit.

    Pros

    Good people that have great ideas but are handcuffed due to inept management from Corporate in Belgium

    Cons

    Philosophy is to throw everything against the wall to see what sticks...and then repeat as many as times possible until something comes out of it. Since their sales numbers are horrible, the US market is cutting staff left and right to make budget.

    Advice to Management

    Look for gainful employment
