    Pros

Good people, customers like the products.

    Cons

Weak US management serving their European overseers. Management does not seem to understand IT business model.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Time to let go of film and be an IT company. US employees are not expendable commodities.

    Pros

The company is very competitive in the industry and the industry is on the rise. The products that we make are very cool and cutting edge. Our products literally help save the lives of our patients. Being a part of that is really cool.

    Cons

Since the company is a European company, there are a lot of things that are pushed down to the US that just don't work in the US. It is the overall feeling that "they just don't get us".

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Let each region manage their own regions with minimal global interference.

    Cons

Bureaucracy of a large corporation and not being even one that big. Changes are not embraced as fast as they need to be.

    Pros

Very good work environment to enjoy. You also have the freedom to engage the company with your own ideas and strategies allowing your professional growth.

    Cons

Very poor upper management, full of incompetent and unskilled people to these kind of positions. Most of the times making inappropriate and inconvenient decisions.
There are not competence plans for the people and career path, nor real merit reviews or recognition at all. Human resources does not exist.
The people which get promoted is because of friendship with the top manager, this is the criteria used nowdays at least in Latam region.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You need to think seriously about the actual top and regional managers who are not giving back any real value and growth to the company. All multinational companies around the world are conformed by people, and this aspect is highly neglected at this moment. Unfortunately things are getting worse everyday.

It's not what it used to be. Most of us formers know this to be true.

    I worked at Agfa Healthcare

    Pros

AGFA is a very organized company regarding tracking and managing resources in a top/down fashion. The amount of cutting and re-organizing they finally did post merger was just crazy. So many higher up management personnel were rotated in and out that you had to be sure they could figure out what to do with this business that they had acquired and could grow or get rid of.

    Cons

The cutting of pay and benefits was hard. So many people left after the first round of cuts that there was massive talent loss.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The people at the Westerly location are good people and they know what they are doing. Stop sending managers who don't know what they are doing.

    Frequent layoffs.
Difficult to determine a company direction.
A lot of egos and politics.

Good company. 1970's "information hoarding" mentality by mid-level managers from Dupont days.

    Pros

Understanding managers. Support for work/home balance.

    Cons

1970's "information hoarding" mentality by mid-level managers from Dupont days.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Cadre of old Dupont mid-level managers have goal just to survive for the sake of their pension plan. They make commitments in a vacuum and look to pass work on to others as much as possible. Goals aren't embraced but approached as just a check-off item. They do not strive to excel and grow business through innovative thinking.

    Good experience

I worked at Agfa Healthcare as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

I have only worked here as a co-op student, so my opinion should have little value to the general audience. Laid-back workplace and most employees are friendly and helpful. Albeit being a co-op student, I still feel that I am valued on the team.

    Cons

It seems that the development teams are never up-to-speed with what the upper management wants (though I guess that would be true for most companies). The starting weeks are extremely slow and can be boring.
