I worked at Aggregate Industries (more than a year)

    Pros

Good pay, average benefits. A lot depends on your manager/plant.

    Cons

Work/life balance can be horrible during the construction season. Senior management can be very disconnected from operations. Unionized hourly workforce can make your life VERY difficult as a supervisor.

I have been working at Aggregate Industries

    Pros

    Benefits are pretty good here.

    Cons

Very immature and unethical HR dept. Favoritism and gossip. Upper management picks favorites and conducts crooked behavior towards highly reputable good workers simply from he said/she said. Don't give good raises or recognize good quality employees. Treat good employees distastefully. Company has lost so far, 6 of their top notch employees and about to lose more due to work overload and poor recognition for their work and poor pay. Use and abuse. Very very micro and unethical management and HR. Many unhappy employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take care of good employees and don't allow them to be bullied and treated unfairly and unethically just because you listen to what their bullying boss says vs listening to the rest of the people. Ridiculously unethical and unprofessional management. Hire competent mature HR people vs immature unprofessional people that can't retain good employees because they don't know how to deal with issues in the company and pick favorites. Focus on and recognize people's work. This company is continuing to lose good people. Very bad environment.

I have been working at Aggregate Industries

    Pros

Pay is good, most people are good to work with and care about their job.

    Cons

Big company mentality. They think because something works in England, it will work in the US. They do not recognize that each region has special nuances and challanges.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please listen to your employees. Many of us have a more vested interest than upper management since upper management moves around every year or two/

    Not great Management

I worked at Aggregate Industries as a contractor (more than a year)

    Pros

That I’m not working in there any longer and whatever co-workers were left on my department, were nice to work with and be around with.

    Cons

Foreign owned comp. Management was not really involved in the department until it was too late and then expected to have everything “fixed” in a short period of time. In other words, it was a big disorganization.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat employees more like humans and less like machines. Appreciate the hard work and long hours some employees did give to the company!

    I worked at Aggregate Industries

    Pros

If you live in Rockville, easy commute. Interesting business but very dependent upon US economy and building activity. Mostly nice people to work with.

    Cons

Foreign owned, incompetent senior management wasting resources hand over fist and not recognizing that in order to make a profit, you have to sell the products aggressively.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of the top two layers of corporate management and start over. It couldn't be any worse than the current group of morons running the show.

    I worked at Aggregate Industries

    Pros

    Large company, potential for growth.

    Cons

They are a large company and sometimes close profitable divisions in a region due to conditions in other Regions.
It is easy to become just a number because of the size of the company.
Most SR management is from UK and business philosophies sometimes vary from US.
