Pros – My team was good & quite cooperative.
Cons – Non - cooperative Employees with rude behaviour.
Advice to Senior Management – It depends that some people gel well but some don't. So you can still try in this Co; as it's a big brand.

Former Employee – worked at Agilent Technologies full-time for more than a year
Pros – The benefits meet industry average. New employees receive 3 weeks vacation. Some jobs allow for employees to work from home.
Cons – The financials are met by not investing in infrastructure. Facility personnel are strapped trying to maintain facilities with no funding. Some Agilent facilities lack strong leaders.
– I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Current Employee – been working at Agilent Technologies full-time for more than a year
Pros – Decent pay. Not recommended to work in SSD.
Im talking not of Agilent Santa Clara, but in a country in Southeast Asia.
Cons – Its a corporate jungle. There are unclear objectives. After you get hired, you are left hanging in the air with no orientation (im talking of the dept only), goals, rules, etc.
Advice to Senior Management – Hire the appropriate people who have AT LEAST a background in Chemistry or Chemical Instrumentation! - Im talking about the Services and Support Dept.
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Former Employee – worked at Agilent Technologies full-time
Pros – No work
Decent salary
Good office space
Good for non-technical people
Cons – No work..This one is for people to want to work, learn and grow
Manager is the top boss, to real HR policies
No growth opportunities, if not in R&D. Which is for electronic engineers
Heard annual hikes are not satisfactory.. I never stayed for one to happen for me
Waste of skill set and Talent - to be precise (Do not look for IT growth its an electronic company)
Advice to Senior Management – Interview the core guys. Don't interview IT professionals when you do not have enough work for them that too on their related and skilled technologies
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend

Current Employee – been working at Agilent Technologies full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Great Company for work life balance and ability to work remotely. Great People. If you want to coast by with easy work and little real stress, great company. if you want to advance, have more responsibility, and challenging work Agilent is NOT for you.
Cons – Little room for advancement or challenging work. Management very stagnant with the same managers as any other company might have. Typical large company waste of time tasks due to beauracratic processes and politics. Older company with older employees so not great for younger people without kids. Most people the company would classify as their next leaders ALL are looking for work external from Agilent because of the lack of career advancement potential.
Advice to Senior Management – Don't just pick the next person in line for management, get some change and NEW blood. Most of the "next" leaders are looking externally because of the lack of career progression so figure out a way to grow! even though there is too much management compared to other companies.

Current Employee – been working at Agilent Technologies
Pros – - Good people, overall, to work with
- Pays the bills, and then some
- Good experience
- This company still gives bonuses (no raises, though)
Cons – - Every manager in the upper echelons says "our pay is competitive with the current market". It's a lie, blatant and bold-faced.
- Management top-heavy, from the TOP down to team managers. With this many managers running around, often multiple teams are doing the same work without aware of the other. Communication is neither encouraged nor managed.
- Maybe a handful of managers actually know what their employees are doing, let alone how to do their job for them. If I want guidance on how to read, why would I want an illiterate looking over my shoulder "coaching" me?
- It's obvious it's who you know. If you're friends with someone who's broken into the Management circle, getting promoted is really easy. If not, or worse someone in the inner circle doesn't like you, then good luck advancing beyond un-appreciated drone.
- Fluff. They believe that by having silly distractions those who work the front-line will forget that they're a number. Casual dress, community clubs, washable marker walls, etc are pointless if all you're doing is trying to paint over the bullet hole in the wall. No one is fool, and those who are belong flipping burgers
- $ oritented. True, what company isn't? However, when opinions are based solely on how much $ was brought in by their team, regardless if they know what they're doing, then there's something wrong.
- Movement is like a marathon run with obstacles. Regardless of qualifications, if you don't know the right people, have the right recommendations, and kiss the right back-sides, you're not likely to move anytime soon. And if you're a valuable asset in your current spot, management won't take into consideration about your personal growth. Their numbers and team performance are more important, and if that means you stay in the same spot forever, carrying a majority of work, then that's where you stay. Watch for words like "Super Star" and the like to cover up the truth.
- Tools and system resources to perform day to day duties are subpar, at best. And when requests for IT to investigate are done, it's either half-assed or "this is in the pipeline, but not as important as other items, so here's a free coffee coupon instead"
- Rather than remove the slackers, parasites, and poor performers, the company keeps them around and either ignores them entirely or shuffles them around. They'd rather keep a rotting branch than risk growing a new tree, often times with those who've been around countless years and truly need to leave. Seriously. In order to be fired, there's either got to be porn on the net involved or you smacked someone on the backside....because if your performance is dragging everyone else down, your job is still safe so long as you've either been here forever or are friends with brass.
- Office Space
- Every year, a new catch phrase...but don't worry. It will be irrelevant in 8 mths.
- If you're in management or one of the Sales reps out in the field, bringing in the big money, you're free to be as rude, disrespectful, back stabbing, deceitful, and all around dispicable as you like....if you're not, be prepared to be on the receiving end of the above, be prepared to be helpless when it happens, and be on the watch for those few people in those positions who DON'T do this and make friends with them quick, because there aren't many.
- Freedom of Thought, Fresh Ideas, and Speaking your Mind is not welcome here. Forget rocking the boat, if you so much as shift a finger out of step with the rest, you're immediately under the microscope. If it's a good idea, someone above you will claim it and give you a piece of paper in return. If it's a bad idea, it'll be logged as a complaint and filed under "Coaching Opportunity"
- Is your manager a bad person? Are they horrible in their position? Would you sooner follow a blind man off a cliff? Too bad. They're friends with the right people, including their own boss, and when you complain up the chain, you better have that resume updated.
Advice to Senior Management – Gut this company. You've got people who've been around 20+ years, yet still believe it's the same world as it was when they started "back in the good ol' HP days". How discouraging is it to have brass visit, show a few figures, and then spend 40 minutes of company time telling us how great the old days used to be? Those who refuse to leave HP behind, refuse to adjust to this decade, refuse to maintain and promote talent rather than the 'old boys club' mentality need to go. And any manager who doesn't think this is happening today is part of the problem.
Bill, you're a great guy. It's a pleasure to work for you, to say that my CEO is a friendly, upbeat guy, not some sleezy Enron type. I would happily trade a grandparent or great uncle for you, but they're retired nowadays because they did what they could and were no longer able to keep up. Time to let this company fully move out of the HP household and make our own identity. I would always wish you the best, but it's time you said goodbye, and took quite a few of your upper folks with you.

Current Employee – been working at Agilent Technologies
Pros – Decent salary and compensation packages, especially at the senior management levels and in the sales organisations. Not a bad campus and some good work/life benefits.
Cons – Significant incompetence at the top levels of the organisation, especially in Life Sciences. Not a clear or winning strategy in this area. Large push to outsource combined with a lack of understanding of value proposition to customers an issue. Not a very innovative place to work, very conservative and cost conscious.
Advice to Senior Management – Need a shake up at the higher levels of the Life Science organisation. Also need to overhaul leadership program as current way of measuring performance is broken and counter-productive. Sucession planning and the identifaction and mentoring of top talent should be a priority.
