    ProsAgilent scientists are smart, creative people, who work well together. The environment fosters intellectual freedom by allowing room for long term, high risk projects, while maintaining a balanced research portfolio that supports product lines in the near term.

    ConsCompensation is mediocre. Yearly raises in base salary and/or promotions are hard to come by. Company boasts a 10% bonus on average as part of compensation package, but recent changes to payout structure effectively bring the average payout closer to 2-3%. Workforce is largely older, and young scientists perceive little chance at upward mobility.

    Advice to Senior ManagementStrategy to focus more on life science markets for long term growth is sound.

    Working with Agilent/Philips Medical Systems was an exciting and dynamic work environment

    ProsAgilent/Philips had many strategic sales opportunities which involved many levels of sales contact during the sales process.

    ConsOne of the cons working there was that I was handling four different sales capacities for them at one time. Sometimes scheduling conflicts would make it difficult to be in two places at one time.

    Agilent as a company is very good

    Prostotally depends on the department and manger under you are working

    Cons(Agilent - India) there is no involvement of HR department, some of managers are ruling on their team and pressuring them to do whatever they want or leave the organisation. In some department there are no work life balance at all, other facilities like entitled / festival leaves cant take, working hours are more than as usual with no overtime. Manager aware their team breaking SOBC rules but still supporting and promoting some of people who they like most. Mainly some of the managers are spoiling the company IMAGE.

    Advice to Senior Managementbe fair with the empoyee, listen employee's voice and act on that. whatever feedback taken from employee should not disclose with their respective immediate or next manager. Should take feedback from employees for their manager in every alternative month. HR should involve during exit of any employee which is missing.

    ConsMeasurement hardware is a hard to defend market. Focus on operations has led to divestitures that may play well to The Street, but lead to challenges for current employees.

    ProsAgilent develops great instrumentation products which make a positive difference in the world supporting the scientific community. Here is an excellent cross-discipinary research and development environment, featuring opportunities to work in teams with excellent mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, software developers, applications chemists, and field product specialists. There are opportunities for reasonable work-life balance, including a flexible time off policy. Benefits include 401(k) employer match, stock purchase plan, family leave, semi-annual Agilent Results Bonus, opportunity for individual performance bonus.

    Consdifficult for software developers to advance in a hardware-centric company

    Advice to Senior Managementraise the priority of fostering employee development and continuing education; yes, schedule-driven product development environment is crucial for product releases and the bottom line, but make more investments in the continuing education of the engineering workforce
