I worked at Agilent Technologies full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

GOOD people doing the work. They are dedicated and VERY hard working. It is easy to have them as close friends

    Cons

Management - too many layers without clear sight of it's employees. Politics is bad if you get in the way. I had false charges placed by a manager I never met

    Advice to Management

    STUDY the HP Way again

I worked at Agilent Technologies full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Agilent does interesting projects. Individual contributors tend to be nice, and competent. Management at all levels: not so much.

    Cons

Agilent tolerates bad managers. There appear to be no repercussions for those that ruin the company, or are imcompetent. Cronyism is tolerated. Mediocre pay. Lays off divisions freely and frequently.

    Pros

I can't find anything positiv. I am really sorry.

    Cons

Not at all customer focus. At least in the division I worked for. Processes to complicated. Everything just takes to long time. Nobody is following up.

    Advice to Management

Needs way more customer focus and a better communication with employees. Improving the process should be focus.

I worked at Agilent Technologies part-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Opportunity to work with best of the best on leading edge measurement technologies. Long history of continuing to push advancements in spite of size & structure. Culture in the Test & Measurement side of the business is very much the old "HP Way".

    Cons

Very experienced workforce resulting in limited advancement opportunities. For the stability the pay is good but not at the leading edge.

    Advice to Management

Get back to focus on a compelling vision and taking risks vs expecting everything to always work as planned

I have been working at Agilent Technologies full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great brand and history. The HP legacy is still there despite Bill Sullivan's best efforts to kill it

    Cons

Agilent has gone from 7+ divisions and 51,000 employees in 2001 to 5700 employees and three divisions in 2014. That is a 90% reduction in employees The constant downsizing means there is NO growth for rank & file. It is NOT a career, it is just a job unless you sit on executive row. Management is rewarded for continually splitting chunks of the company off and selling them. Keysight is just the latest chunk to be whittled out for the benefit of the shareholders and the board.

    Advice to Management

Think about Customers, Employees and Product before your personal enrichment (ha!)

  9. A great company to work for.

    Pros

The Culture - people are treated with respect. Management by objective. You are empowered to make decisions.

    Cons

Not much upward movement. Low attrition rate at the higher levels. Also, could use a little more company-funded fun.
