Pros
Competitive pay, bonuses, incentives, praise from management
Cons
Micromanaging, favortism, lack of growth, lack of communication from HR regarding internal postions/promotions, QA program (too subjective/nitpicking), decision making of management, extremely high productivity expectations
Advice to Senior Management
Promote people based on qualifications/history/work ethic rather than interpersonal relationships. Reduce some of the micromanaging and have a more realistic view of minimum expectations. Overall, I think the AICPA great place to work for, it's just my department that needs some revamping.
Pros
benefits are good, fellow employees are good. Teamwork is very good.
Cons
Don't back fill positions to save a buck. lots of politics, favoritism. managers don't have much of a backbone when dealing with upper management.
Advice to Senior Management
Quit trying to squeeze a dollar out of a dime. Recognize when work paradigms are not working and be willing to spend the money on additional positions instead of expecting employees to just "suck it up" 'cause we are a non-revenue team. Sr Managers - take the feedback YOU asked for and stand up to the almighty budget gods.
Pros
I would say good work environment, good team work, education reimbursement, open door policy in my department with upper management.
Cons
There are no room for improvement within the department, compensation is not comparable with other companies, communication issues within department.
Pros
As long as you're doing a decent job, you won't get laid off, which is a good thing in this economy.
Cons
No upward advancement
Management is clueless
No transparency or communication from management
Major player wannabe without any strategic planning
Pointless reviews. Are told how to rate oneself as dictated by HR and then use those same low numbers to merit performance increments (or lack thereof)
Advice to Senior Management
Start engaging ALL employees and listen.
Provide merit awards to those who should be given them.
Stop coddling the NC office. There are four other locations whose employees need attention.
Pros
professional place to work today
Cons
a lot of dead weight
Pros
The AICPA is a good place to work. The salary they offer is much higher than other call centers in the areas and there are opportunities to get recognition from Senior Management often.
Cons
The atmosphere can be a bit "every man for himself" at times. You have to watch your what you say and who you say it to.
The minimum expectations for quality are a bit high for the standards they hold you to.
Pros
The AICPA is a highly respected company that sets the standards financial sector companies should aspire to if we are to get out of this economic mess. They are transparent, fair, and ethical from the top-down.
Cons
Very corporate and somewhat bureaucratic at times. Working there usually felt like I was living out an alternate version of the novel "Catch 22": all the frustration, none of the hilarity.
However, my time there did teach me how to cut through red tape!
Advice to Senior Management
Taking a look at work flow and industrial organization could really save time and money for the company. Communications between departments was especially troublesome and is probably an easy fix.
Pros
Great Networking opportunities. Advancement if you are willing to put in the work. Flexible work schedules.
Cons
Top heavy with management, gets in the way of getting the work done.
Advice to Senior Management
Ask your employees how to improve the functioning of the organization instead of hiring external consultants. Waste of employee time and membership money.
Pros
Reasonable work hours (35 – 40 hour work week); good benefits package including 401K, FSA, generous vacation, gym reimbursement, dental; telecommuting; low stress; work with hi-caliber professionals from the top firms; relative job security but of course layoffs and firings do happen
Cons
Low pay; admin BS; can be stifling to long-term career; rigid IT polices and poor IT support
Advice to Senior Management
Easy on the feel good trendy initiative; Less Dilbert speak/actions; raise the pay scale.
