I have been working at Air National Guard part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The Air National Guard is great. You get to travel and help people while getting the perks of staying close to home.
Most jobs lead to a civilian career. Personally working on aircraft gives a great sense of accomplishment.

    Cons

Sometimes training gets in the way of personal life. Promotions can be slow depending on where you are. Travel is not paid for when coming to drill. Training requirement is sometimes difficult to fill on two day drills.

I worked at Air National Guard full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Excellent benefits and compensation and opportunities. You are taken care of as "family"

    Cons

opportunities are much more based on who you know over what you know.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep the focus on being distinct guardsmen and not becoming too much like active duty Air Force.

I have been working at Air National Guard full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Great area of Wv to live in and around. A motivated person has the capability to spring board to the top tier within a few years.

    Cons

Be willing to lay stagnant once reaching the top tier, little to no movement within the organization for many years.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management should adhere more to the rules and regulations that encompass the Air National Guard and the technician workforce rather than morphing into an active duty unit.
