Current Employee - Senior Process Engineer in Allentown, PA

I have been working at Air Products full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Diversified culture. Company is respectful to employee. Ok salary. Onsite gym. Decent work environment. Sometimes you can find interesting work if you ask around.

    Cons

Bureaucracy. Depending on where you are, there may be a lot of politics. Sometimes the people are promoted for popularity not for their performance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Cut the unnecessary administrative meeting in name of safety. Safety can not be guaranteed by talking. Focus on business growth and asset management. Make the work more productive for both investors and employees. Need to revise bonus plan.

I have been working at Air Products full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Pay is good for the area.

    Cons

Greatly depends on your manager and your department. Some departments encourage work from home, flex-time and a positive work-life balance. Other departments expect long hours and to put work before family except for extreme cases.. Sick day policy could cause a person to quickly lose vacation with an illness. Benefit program punishes all for the mistakes made a level far higher than themselves and out of their control. No empowerment of the individual - red tape prevents change and removes need for accountability.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't hire mid-level career employees and expect them to be managed by inexperienced CDPs. Give mid-level career candidates the same opportunities as CDP program employees for development.

I have been working at Air Products as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

Everyone seems to be very nice no matter what department. There is alot of room to move around the company. You can easily spend your entire career here.

    Cons

I would say that the only con is that there is a lot of traveling for some jobs if you don't like that.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Keep up the good work.

Current Employee - Manager in Allentown, PA

I have been working at Air Products full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great culture surrounding work life balance and diversity and inclusiveness. Even at the most senior level managers are accessible and have an open door policy. MBA rotational program affords the opportunity to network and gain experiences across departments, functions and business areas.

    Cons

Matriculation process is slow. Culture is based upon years in role as opposed to skill set and potential. Company is very conservative and steeped in traditional thoughts and values. This presents challenges in the ever changing business and social environments.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Opportunities need to be created with adequate compensation in order to attract AND maintain top talent.

I worked at Air Products full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Lehigh Valley is losing its "Pennsyltucky" feel and has developed in to an OK place to live in the NE. APCI is great place to get early experience and move on.

    Cons

APCI businesses are highly competitive and relatively low dollar, causing downward pressure on wages and benefits. There is a select "good old boy" network alive and well for those who do get the big jobs and perks. Most of the population attended a handful of PA schools, so it has a distinct fraternity feeling in the management ranks. Fortunately, it has been broken up by hiring Seifi Ghasemi, an outsider.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Good Luck with Seifi......bwhahahaha

I have been working at Air Products full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great people work here who are very knowledgeable. There is a positive energy when dealing with the businesses

    Cons

Almost too competitive among employess with too much politics.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management encourages you to not have the mindset of 'this is the way it has always been done', but is so reluctant to make changes. When changes take too long to make, the momentum dies.
