Increase career advancement opportunities
Pros

Plenty of challenges
Cons
Company doesn't recognize the hard work done by field positions
Work / life balance is no longer a priority
Long hours required to keep your job
Layoffs have caused a culture of CYA and tension
Good people are being let go to reduce operating expense (knowledgeable people)
Advice to Senior Management
Start investing in the people and grooming for future
Less politics and more recognition especially for the long time loyal employees
Take a look at the foundation and history of the company and it's core values
Ask yourself if Leonard Poole would approve of the company today
Pros
compensation and benefits relative to local area
international
loosely managed, other than the finances, plenty of opportunity to be creative
solid business
interesting customers
Cons
cutlure is critical not collaborative
in-bred and insular many managers born and raised locally, politics prevalent
review process is complex and fosters favoritism
many of the managers are not the best people for their position
Advice to Senior Management
you do a good job of financial administration, that's become the core strength, the reason you haven't grown as much as the competition in the last twenty years is because that only gets you so far, you need to visibly value your people more and be much better at finding the people down the organization who can really lead it to a different future, not those who play the politics well
Pros
The people who work at Air Products are friendly and typically helpful. Management tries to limit layoffs, although we still have been affected by the economy.
Cons
There is little chance for advancement. Compensation is not the best. Not sure if acquiring Airgas is the correct path for the company.
Advice to Senior Management
Leadership needs to communicate more effectively. The company is trying to improve inclusion, however there is a long way to go.
Pros
Some amount of freedom and good working hours. Decent pay and benefits. Friendly atmosphere and working environment. I would say I have a good experience overall.
Cons
Some times heavy work and little on the ground support. Broken promises of further training and career advancement and no option but to work weekends
Advice to Senior Management
Take the time to spend a day with the guys on the ground occasionally and then go and think about what you should change
Pros
High pay compared to other companies in the area
Good Benefits compared to other companies in the area
Opportunities to move around the company
Flexibility of hours

Cons
They expect you to work long, unconventional hours
Advice to Senior Management
find creative ways to keep people employed
Pros
Easy access to housing and great cost of living in surrounding area. Very capable and talented staff working for the company.
Cons
It seems that a lot of the time I'm stuck in my office not really knowing what the main mission is.
Advice to Senior Management
I'd like to see more open communications from the top down everyone, but not filtered thru the layers of management.
Pros
Large company offering group insurance; Many varied positions available; Many locations across US.
Cons
Often makes changes; Often sells off parts of company; Not as family oriented as some companies; Very rigid expectations.
Advice to Senior Management
Become more family friendly. Offer more flexibility to employees. Reward loyalty with job security. Recognize employees as assets.
Pros
relatively stable work environment
can balance work & family
pretty good computers & software
great safety record
many competent, technically strong employees
Allentown/Lehigh Valley is a nice place to have a family
Cons
slow career advancement
appears there is disparity in promotions between departments
appears there is favoritism in performance ranking process
salary out of school is good but does not seem to increase competitively
pay is to the midpoint of competitors, not the top tier
Advice to Senior Management
reward people commensurate with their contributions to the bottom line
have less than 50 vice presidents
decrease CEO compensation from $12,000,000/yr to $1,000,000/yr
Pros
Overall good experience with with slightly above average pay. Above average management with regards to work/life balance with reasonable expectation demands on extra hours worked. Overall friendy workplace environment.
Cons
Not too many things to say on the Con side, honestly
Advice to Senior Management
Keep tabs on the communications between departments as that is sometimes lacking.
