Pros
A very open and interesting place to work, there is a large variety of interesting things going on and there are always people willing to teach you.
Cons
Allentown is not the best place in the world to stay. The cost of living was high and not much to do.
Advice to Senior Management
Continue to focus on developing young talent, focus more on advertising the work environment and culture rather than individual programs.
Pros
Due to sheer size and number of employees you get to meet a lot of nice people
Cons
This is a company weighed down by processes and procedures for the sake of having them. Everything is over-complicated and tedious. Hiring and promotional choices leave a lot to be desired and HR is a complete joke. Management and leadership figures are chosen arbitrarily and even when performing badly are still not reassigned or fired. Bad behaviour such as bullying and back-stabbing are pretty common.
Advice to Senior Management
Change your management and get capable honest and hard-working people in. Get with the times, you are stuck in 1970!
Pros
Good salary, benefits, invitation, strong growth.
Cons
Lots of long hours, lots of OT, weekends, nights, holidays. Not conducive to family life.
Advice to Senior Management
Staff accordingly, you cant run a 24/7/365 facility lean. Particularly if safety, environment, and life to work balance are truly your focus.
Pros
great benefits, global view, nice work environment, the colleague are very friendly, working strength
is not so strong, could learn a lot in this field
Cons
I did not see any big cons, but maybe they need to be more creative in managment and tech area.
Pros
Above average benefits, excellent top of the line office furniture, plenty of office supplies goo cafeteria and fitness facilities. Co-workers were generally friendly but not sophisticated.
Cons
Being an Electrical Engineer at a chemical company has its problems. Most level of management are Chemical Engineers and they don't understand anything electrical and certainty not software. They tend to hire mostly non college grads and groom them to take on more responsibility. This works for only a few truly smart people where as the rest of them get feelings of grandeur and that they are equal to a degree holder. Employees who make recommendations for improving things get branded as winy but outside consultants, who make the same recommendations are hailed as visionaries. If you are an underachiever who would fit in well in a government job then Air Products would be a good place to work.
Advice to Senior Management
Safety is always a concern when you are a chemical producer so it is best to err on the side of caution in the workplace. However, management can't operate this way when they deal with the rank and file.
Pros
Very flexible with time off and they are understanding.
Cons
Unless you get a manager that likes and looks after you you don't get noticed and hurts you when trying to get promoted. Very political place to work.
Advice to Senior Management
Most management and supervisors don't really have a clue how to be leaders and some don't want to know either. Thet just want to collect their paycheck. My advice is to get a clue and have a better understanding what there line managers and supervisors are doing.
Pros
Detailed, action oriented. Company was willing to fund and develop the employees. It was like a family in the department and very helpful to have such great teachers along the way.
Cons
Too many people for too few promotions. There were situations where new managers were completely oblivious to the needs to the longer-term employee.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to employees and allow more risk taking. Support IT as something besides a pure cost center. It is unfortunate that so much was cut.
Pros
The People / Coworker are wonderful.
Cons
The care of the employees gets lost the further up the ladder management is.
Advice to Senior Management
Be fair in promoting your hard & loyal workers, not just what looks good for Deversity reasons on your PPRD! Listen to the lower level emplyees more, and start looking outside AP for answers to questions, not thinking it has to have been generated by Air Products to be a good and successful system. Others have already worked this problem adn been successful at it!
Pros
My experience at Air Products was a very positive one. I worked on many various projects. Interaction with managers was very supportive and encouraging. I was challenged with new ideas concepts and helped with the tools to grasp and make valuable contributions. The primary resourse at AP is the people, they become your friends/family.
Cons
Sometimes communication tends to be a problem, more from upper management to the lower echelons. Company somewhat top management heavy.

Pros
Very smart people all around.
Diversity and Inclusion are preached and practiced.
Consistent growth, even if the pace is not on par with competition.
Cons
If you are not a CDP, options for career advancement become limited.
Compensation and benefits leave a lot to be desired.
Everyone is consistently (years on end....) overloaded with more work than one person should be responsible for.
Need to stop focusing primarily on managing the financial component of the company, and start creating an employee-friendly environment.
Advice to Senior Management
Focus on people, rather than just on financial metrics.
