I have been working at AirG Wireless full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

New and improved management - things a lot more transparent.
Constant stream of challenging problems to solve.
Very good bonus program (limited to people who deliver).
    Company finally growing again.

    Cons

    'Darwinian' environment not for everyone.
Lots of 'complainers' worked here in the past - luckily fred is cleaning up.
    Should clean up faster.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you want a real 'Darwinian' environment, fire the under performing employees faster!

products with short life cycle, heritage code base causes many problems to current products, no motivation to stay, relatively weak perks compare to other similar companies

I worked at AirG Wireless full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The company provides breakfast, which is neat and convenient. The office is opened-space, theoretically allow cross-team collaboration. It is located in DT, near skytrain.

    Cons

The company is run through tyranny, and the leaders of this organization lack confidence in their own employees. No growth opportunities available for team members, but senior management somehow always have privileges, and have constant promotions.

The product is outdated, and the company is going after anything it can find before the product sets. No foreseen future.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Grow up, and be more confident in yourself. Also, think before coming up with ideas.

I worked at AirG Wireless full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - The people working there are great.
    - Good location downtown
    - Free food and beer (But this has drastically decreased in the past few years)

    Cons

    - Still using older technologies that aren't being used by other companies
    - Low salaries
    - Management not that great.
    - Lack of direction and focus
    - Don't give senior titles to people that deserve them
    - No career growth for employees
    - Not really focused on quality products. Just making money by shady means

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - Build quality product that people will actually like and use
    - Give better raises and promotions to employees
    - Listen to all employees if they have an idea and not just a select few

I worked at AirG Wireless full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The People - everyone is friendly and up for after work activities like board games,
Company events - Company picnics, halloween, christmas, st.patricks day, family day. AirG was big on team building, morale was always high as a result.
Work Environment - The openspace workplace, was a pleasure to work in as it helped bring the employees together rather than segregate them
Work Hours - Rarely was there ever a need to stay late, the balance between work life and home life was great.

    Cons

Lack of direction, often times, it felt like there was a lack of direction from upper management.

I worked at AirG Wireless as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

A well organized, mature, yet flexible company.
    Friendly colleagues and co-founders.
Up to date work related equipment.
    Good benefits for permanent employees.

    Cons

The company started with making cellphone games and grew rapidly with the cellphone market. Yet it started a little late in the smartphone business and fell behind the competition.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make the product you're honestly proud of, as Fred said.

Utilize the advantage of being a big company that has designers, programmers, testers, and most importantly the artists. No individual developer has all these resources conveniently at hand.

I worked at AirG Wireless full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Fun, young, dynamic workforce
    - Tries to belong with the 'cool indie software company' motif, and is somewhat successful
    - Decent work-life balance
    - Decent springboard to better opportunities within the IT/mobile development industry

    Cons

    - Terrible salaries. Really.
    - Questionable future for the company based on product offerings
    - Not a fan of HR; seemed relatively disrespectful and expected high churn within the QA team

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you want to reduce churn, you need to make your salaries more competitive. There are too many opportunities for young graduates in the IT industry for them to stay at airG for long given the unimpressive compensation packages.

I worked at AirG Wireless full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The people are fun, the culture is fun and upbeat, and the perks are great! The office encourages a good balance of work and play and the social committee is constantly busy planning the next event. I loved the atmosphere and sense of community.

    Cons

Communication between management and employees was weak at best. Teams were never on the same page and management would keep employees in the dark. A clear and focused company goal was never established and questions went unanswered.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be open and honest with employees. Everyone that works there is dedicated and wants it to succeed but it's difficult to create trust between employees when so many are left in the dark.

I have been working at AirG Wireless full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great hardworking people to work with. fitness subsidy, smartphone subsidy. good benefits. Full ownership of work. Working with the founder. Creative environment. Not a lot of hierarchy or politics anymore. Results focused which means the bonus and pay are results driven as well. Transparent environment - all revenues shared with employees. We know whats going on with the company now.

    Cons

No focus on titles so hard to see career progression. Driven environment means that some people have a hard time balancing work and home life. Still in transition mode from the previous/political senior management syndrome.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Balance. People are working really hard - try to encourage a breather here and there.
