Pros
Upper management is very goal oriented and demands alot from all employees. Most of the goals set forth are manageable but hard work is a must.
Cons
Payscale could be better, but it could also be much worse.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep on track, try not to put focus on goals unless they are clearly defined and measurable. Don't push one goal on the entire system when only one workgroup or location is the culprit of bad performance. Also, keep up the good work.
Pros
It was a really nice environment to work in...good people
Cons
Not much room for advancement. No encouragement to advance
Advice to Senior Management
Doesn't seem meaningful since Airtran is almost gone!
Pros
flight privs, the employees come from all backgrounds which keeps it interesting, learn great competencies anytime you work for an airline
Cons
Needed to be more of a career pathing program for people who worked in operations and were interested in other positions throughout the company.
Advice to Senior Management
Understand what it means to ne a leader not a manager. Really great people who work at AirTran but some need to know that in being a leader, it is about empowering others and building them not just yourself...
Pros
Great pay and great benefits
Cons
Too many rules to keep job
Advice to Senior Management
Treat employees better
Pros
Schedule flexibility, good medical and dental benefits.
Cons
Not many opportunities for advancement, management doesn't care about employees.
Advice to Senior Management
Don't screw over "the little people".
Pros
Some of the best reasons to work in the ariline industry is the opportunity for travel and the meeting people of all cultures.
Cons
The pay is not great and the benefits are substandard.
Advice to Senior Management
Include your employees in your decision making especially those who are in constant contact with your passengers
Pros
-Flight benefits
-Will work with your schedule
-Easy to move upward
Cons
-Favoritism is prevalent
-Underpaid in comparison with other similar positions at other companies
-Rules change without proper acknowledgement
Advice to Senior Management
Less favoritism, if someone is qualified for the job, it should be based on that opposed to who is your friend.
Pros
Good thing is you have many opportunities to take ownership of things. And mgmt does support this which is helpful.
Cons
Downside is also part of the good: can work long long hours and also asked to wear many different hats.
Advice to Senior Management
Give support to people who truely do a good job and weed out the backstabbers and brown nosers.
Also, if someone is not pulling their weight, find someone new to replace.
Pros
the flying benefits and benefits packages, meeting new people as far as colleagues and passengers and in flight crew members
Cons
poor and lazy management, management micromanages, recognizes the lazy and incompotent, promotes as a proponent for colleague rivalry, does not recognize the hard workers
Pros
Nice job for a graduate who does not have a career-job; however, you can use the free flights to search around.
Cons
The work schedule part-time or full requires that you work 5 days/week. It's not like most part-time jobs, expect to work a minimum of 25 hours.
Advice to Senior Management
Just because you have worked at AirTran (or JetBlue) for 15 years, does not mean you are intellectually qualified for the position you are in. Please stop talking down to adults who have a degree (or two) that have just started with the company.
