AirTran Holdings CSS in Seattle, WA:   (Past Employee - 2007)

Not Great

Pros

Space A Travel. Thats about it

Cons

Poor management. High turnover rate. Lack of communication. Poor pay in comparison to other airlines. Unrealistic expectations w little to no resources. Management unwilling to go to bat for good employees.

Advice to Senior Management

Take better care of the assets you hire and train. You can only blame the employee for so long before you have to look in the mirror and realize your management style leaves you constantly filling holes in your operation.

AirTran Holdings Reservations Agent in Atlanta, GA:   (Past Employee - 2007)

Pros

Travel benefits, flexible hours (part-time), meet lots of great people.

Cons

Unrealistic policies do not make it feasible to balance work/life. Salaries are low but competitive for the industry.

Advice to Senior Management

Need to revise several company policies. Listen to employee feedback and actually make some of the changes.

AirTran Holdings Flight Attendant in Atlanta, GA:   (Current Employee)

Pros

Some of the best reasons to work for AirTran Airways are the flying benefits, 401k, Medical and Dental and the pay rate increases every six months. You're guaranteed about a $2.00 raise per year.

Cons

Working long hours can be exhausting.

Advice to Senior Management

Better communication with employees, so that there's a better understanding of what goes on throughout the company.

AirTran Holdings Airplane Pilot Or Copilot in Atlanta, GA:   (Current Employee)

Pros

Stable airline with a lot of potential. The hiring people are very friendly. Everyone here wants you to do well. The benefits aren't bad, although a lot of people complain about the health insurance. If you live in Atlanta it's a very easy commute and a great airline to work for.

Cons

Instability of the airline industry, a lot of young pilots, you'll never get seniority. Unfortunately, our pilot contract has been amendable for nearly 4 years. It's difficult to resolve in this economy.

Advice to Senior Management

really try to work out the financial issues. Please work out the pilot contract!

AirTran Holdings Pilot in Atlanta, GA:   (Current Employee)

Pros

Still has a small airline feel to it.

Cons

Southwest style productivity, Lorenzo style management.

Advice to Senior Management

Take a cue from Southwest. Your employees are your most valued asset, not a liability. They can do more to serve the customer and generate revenue than anything else you can think up.
