I have been working at Airgas full-time

    Pros

Many pathways for your career to go. All you need to do is decide where you want to work and what you want to do. The possibility to sell almost anything in an ever growing supplier network.

    Cons

Management can be out of touch with reality at times. They have plans and grand ideas to increase sales, but aren't necessarily aware of what local business are actually thinking and doing in a current economic climates.

    Advice to Management

Listen more to the "boots on the ground" of your sales force for ideas to improve sales and morale.

    Pros

Well established company with long standing success rate and is major player in the industry. Reasonable investments in infrastructure and technology.

    Cons

The company grows through acquisitions and seems to fall short on prepareations and planning. Resources, while available, are often stretched to the limit. Employees are frequently left to make it work, often to the detriment of customer care.

    Advice to Management

Value your employees. Be more transparent in operational changes and make sure the managers understand the business segment of the employee.

I worked at Airgas (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great company for learning about both the Industrial Construction business and Medical Gases for safety administration. Good benefits and working environment.

    Cons

They purchase a lot of the competition so you are always adding new people to the organization that are not aware of your process.

    Advice to Management

Training of new people needs to be goal 1 before adding them to the current task on hand

I worked at Airgas (More than a year)

    Pros

Great team! A veteran crew that has established a friendly work environment.

    Cons

Industrial. Great 1st job, wouldn't advise it for experienced professionals: very routine, difficult to stay engaged because the work is so mundane and not challenging.

    Advice to Management

Be true to your contract employees, either hire or don't hire at the contracts end. It doesn't create a positive work environment to pit employees against one another for positions.

Associates feel like they are only worth as much money they can make for the company. Inventory replenishment process is slow and tedious. Customers have gone to competitors for convenience

    Advice to Management

Allow associates to put customers first and listen to associate ideas to improve customer service.
