Pros
Developing wind farms and other renewable energy projects is a very interesting line of work. Airtricity has been one of the best firms to gain experience in this market and to date has been one of the few to have shown leadership in the industry.
Cons
Since being taken over by Scottish and Southern Energy in 2008, many senior people have left to form new ventures. The result is that Airtricity has lost much of its entrepreneurial sprit. It is now on the road to becoming the Irish branch office of SSE.
Advice to Senior Management
SSE spent over €1BN to purchase Airtricity. Management seem to be more interested in saving small amounts of money through 'efficiencies' instead of growing the business like the previous management team did. A lack of clear strategy about what they want to do with the company has resulted in a loss of direction and a drift of talent.
