I have been working at Akron General Health System full-time

    Pros

Super nice, caring and compassionate staff. Everyone from nurses to therapists are knowledgeable and excellent clinicians.

    Cons

Not valued as an employee. Too much management turnover. New management comes in several times per year and wants to change to "their" way of doing things. They never consult the staff. Have unreasonable expectations and do not listen to suggestions by staff.

    Doesn't Recommend

I have been working at Akron General Health System

    Pros

Enjoy working with my supervisor, PTO plan is good, benefits are good

    Cons

Salary cap is low. Culture is to leave everything as it is, even if it is broken. People are afraid of change, even if it is for the better. No room for advancement. Management is extremely hands off when it comes to employee relations. Communication from top down is terrible. Much information is based on gossip and rumors, which are generally more accurate when information is finally passed down.

I worked at Akron General Health System part-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    My co- workers were wonderful.

    Cons

After I had my TIA i wish ?I could've returned to my job, they held it for 8 months but had to hire someone else until i finally got my Doctor's ok to return.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Honestly, management was very good here. They always seemed fair and understanding in different situations I observed.

I worked at Akron General Health System full-time for less than a year

    Pros

The place has everything you need to train your clients. Never had a problem getting new clients to train. A lot of room to train in.

    Cons

The pay wasn't the best. Also, a lot of the gym visitors are not the usual crowd. A lot of people coming out of surgeries and post rehab. Makes for a different vibe than a traditional gym.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to find was to give the trainers bonuses. It is hard to stay at the job because of the lack of pay.
