Akzo Nobel (Netherlands) Sales Representative:   (Past Employee - 2008)

Pros

Large infusion of capital by Akzo Nobel for commercials, sponserships, and PR. New product line, new advertisments, and great benefits.

Cons

Seems like the some of the same folks from ICI are still running the show. Why? There is no professional training program as found in other large corp's. Why doesn't Strongsville promote capable sales reps from the field, instead of the typical "who you know folks"?

Advice to Senior Management

Akzo Nobel-provide your field people a professional training program.

Akzo Nobel (Netherlands) Development Technologist in Newcastle, England (United Kingdom):   (Past Employee - 2008)

Pros

Excellent pension scheme, global company so great career advancing opportunities, Huge network of people , travel included in my job

Cons

because it was such a big organisation, it was very easy for management to forget about the work your doing so very quick;ly you just becaome another employee as opposed to a valued member of the team

Advice to Senior Management

Take time to get to know your employees and colleagues as it will help them integrate better into the company and overall do a better job and be satified with their work

Akzo Nobel (Netherlands) Anonymous:   (Current Employee)

Pros

Akzo has wonderful people at my location and the workday is laid back and not stressful. The location itself is pretty nice, and there are alot of little conveniences that go along with working here such as a reduced price for gym membership nearby and decent on site dining facilities.

Cons

The work is easy and not stressful to the point of it sometimes getting boring even when it is not repetitive. The repetitive parts are extremely boring and sometimes seem unnecessary.

Advice to Senior Management

Find ways to challenge employees and encourage original thought beyond requiring an "idea submission" and formula work.
