Pros
The people were the best part of Aladdin. There was a family-like atmosphere until Vector Capital/SafeNet came along, laid off dozens of people, and lowered company morale.
Cons
Under Yanki Margalit, the organization operated more like a Mom and Pop shop than the global corporation it was. While this was bad for company growth, it was great for company perks. Yanki was generous with his employees. For example, he gave a secretary and her husband a free vacation to Israel. Severance packages of one month per year worked were common. Under SafeNet management, the severance package decreased to one week per year worked, the employee paid health insurance costs rose, and the management generosity disappeared. The culture shifted from a family run business to a dollar oriented, corporate culture where even the employees from India say, "You can do better than SafeNet."
Advice to Senior Management
Talk to your customers, employees, and managers before making a decision based on the bottom line. Positions were eliminated in the merger that never should've been eliminated, and some of the hardest working, most talented people were let go based solely on job descriptions. No one talked to the managers to get their opinions about who should be kept or let go. If SafeNet had actually learned about how Aladdin operated before terminating people, the merger would've been much smoother, leading to less dissatisfaction among customers and employees.
Pros
greate chance to work on internet based electrical software distribution, and security related technologies, opportunity to gain edging experience & knowledge
Cons
the pay was really low, and managers don't pay any attention to employee's career advancement, not to mention upper management lacks of leadership
Advice to Senior Management
It may be worthy of trying to spend a little bit more to retain telents, and care a little bit more for employee advancement
Pros
The company has great technology
Cons
Leadership is not very professional.
Advice to Senior Management
Make a desicion and stick with it.
Pros
Good technology. Core HASP product is excellent. Some excellent technology expertise.
Cons
CEO was incompetent and he employed family members and friends of company. They were a global company but did not operate effectively in a global way. High turnover.
Advice to Senior Management
Bring in real managers who have successfully scaled a company beyond $100 million; do what you do best..start a new company.
Pros
Well known company, good for the CV, pay not that bad...
Cons
Bad mgmt. very political, managers as well as other engineers were hired and fired within a few months because they decided it wasn't needed any more... as I said - very political b.s. goes on there.
Advice to Senior Management
Stop being so political, talk to your employee's and listen to them not just your managers.
Ask questions and don't take what every you hear as god's word to man, question things.
Be more Google like...
Be fair to your employee's and demand fair hearings by senior mgmt. and ceo if need be.
Don't hire employee's and managers and fire them within less then 6 months!
