Doing good things means doing things faster

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) San Leandro, CA

ProsThey are doing good things with just a few people. They definitely care about promoting social justice.

ConsDepartments are in silo's. Management is a little removed from the day to day experience. Poor people management skills. No real culture to speak of.

    Educational

Psychiatric Social Worker Ll (Former Employee) Oakland, CA

ProsYou are able to continuously learn from the Psychiatrist and patients about many of the various mental illnesses learned in school. Social Work with a specialization in Psychiatry/Mental Health allows for ones own personal growth if you are open to learning about oneself.
Decent salary especially right out of school.

ConsSocial Workers are not promoted to leadership positions or duties. Work load is too extensive and unrealistic for an 8 hr a day position.

Advice to Senior ManagementFind ways to encourage, train and support Social workers to move into leadership positions. Support and assist the Social Workers who all have very heavy caseloads. Encourage leadership to work with and motivate the Social Workers. Allow time off for trainings and mandatory continuing education responsibilities without making the Social Worker responsible for coverage.

It's like being in high school.

Administrative Assistant (Former Employee) Oakland, CA

    ProsConvenient parking and commute options.

ConsHuman Resources Department is an organization where you succeed only if you are liked by the managerial staff. It is amazing that anything even gets done there with all of the socializing within their exclusive circle. Other employees are working hard, keeping their noses down, and never getting full credit for their work. Employees are told demeaning things and not respected. There is no room for advancement because if you have a skill or talent that is better than the management, you become a threat to them and they will treat you with indifference. You just will not feel valued working within the HR group.

Advice to Senior ManagementIt is unfortunate that the management team are not respectful. It is not something they can work on, it is just the type of people they are.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend
