Pros
Good compensation package. Lucrative bonus structure. Good balance of life and work. Intelligent and friendly associate attorneys. Good place to get real experience in the field of labor and employment law.
Cons
There is not a partner track. It is unclear what will happen when the named partners leave or retire. The firm gets the majority of its work from one client.
Advice to Senior Management
I have no advice or feedback to give management of A and S. Overall this is a good place to work.
Pros
Ease of workload for a boutique law firm; compensation is fair; relatively good coworkers; another positive is that the bonus structure can be lucrative if you have "bought" into the management style.
Cons
Senior partner is seriously detached from reality, lacks even the most basis social skills and will provide minimal to schizophrenic responses to mundane issues; absolutely zero opporunity for advancement beyond the associate level of responsibility; It can be ethically challenging to work at this firm because the billing paradigm is based on inflation of work performed for a very limited number of clients
Advice to Senior Management
Spend some serious time comparing your management style (or lack thereof) to any other comparable boutique law firm. Understand that associate turnover will simultaneously destroy both morale of retained employees and client relationships
