Pros
Job securtiy, Job advacement, training, flexibility in supervising my department. The company has established itself as a leader in Compositie manufacuring, which will provide jobs for all current and future employees for many years into the future.
Cons
Long hours that are needed to make sure all of the company goals are being met. Slow to respond to the future growth which will mean more work to keep things on track.
Advice to Senior Management
Establish training for current employees so that everyone can be evaluated on a fair and balenced system. establish a junior supervisor position so that people would have a better understanging of what being a leader is when they are put into that position.
Pros
Good benefits package compared to other like-sized companies.
Cons
Not a place you can retire from anymore. Some people think that is a good thing. I do not.
Advice to Senior Management
Might want to actually communicate that you RESPECT your employees. As it is, management is seen as condescending and inept.
Pros
It was a place where you became a family member and became involved in company functions outside of work because you truly enjoyed each others company. You became involved with quality and safety programs to create a better working facility. We worked as one for a common goal - the best possible product.
Cons
Then came the new management team pushing to be the lowest cost producer all the while they are taking huge compensation packages, While they are shutting down manufacturing facilities.
They have managers in positions that don't have a clue on what it takes to produce quality forming fabrics that there customers have come to expect. The future looks bleak for the Wisconsin facilities
Advice to Senior Management
Upper management should of listen to the local management team a few years back, For it is to late this Train Wreck is coming around the bend. As a stock holder I will not wait around for Mr. Morone prediction of a $45 stock price. Albany will have a tough enough time trying to keep the price above $23 a share.
Pros
Pay is decent. Benefits are good. Culture in my department is very laid back. Management in my department are generally empathetic to the needs of the employees.
Cons
The company is currently not growing. Since Morone has become CEO there are layoffs every 6 to 9 months. Many are uncertain about the their future with the company.
Pros
Albany is an employee friendly company, one who promotes employee involvement and participation in things like safety, employee survey actions, lean improvements, 5S, and quality.
Cons
No significant downsides that I can see. Some leaders need development, but there is a leadership development program that started that should make a difference. Not perfect, but good effort to try to get better each day.
Pros
I've been with the company for over 15 years. I've seen a lot of changes over the years both good and bad. When I started for Albany in the early 90's they treated they're employees like gold.Albany as a whole I guess is a decent company to work for !
Cons
I'm sure we're all thankful to have a job in the current economy. I do have a few downsides to mention. It seem that every year when it comes time to get a raise we get the raise and they increase our insurance premiums at the same time. I don't know if they realize it or not but we're not bringing any more money home than we were six years ago. In the current economy they're slowly starving us to death. It takes you 15 years to get 4 weeks vacation thats a bit too much. Also at my current location if your not in the click or related to somebody in management you don't have a chance for advancement. The surveys they have us fill out rating they're perfomance are joke. It's hard to fill out something truthfully when they're walking around the room looking over your shoulder. They tell us they're trying to communicate. when in reality they're trying to hide as much as possible. To hear some of the comments that come from upper management will make you sick. They don't care about the employees anymore. This is just at my current location I would hope this is not Albany as a whole. I'm a stock holder in this company too ! I want to see us succeed and all profit from it !
Advice to Senior Management
While I don't know you personally I only have one suggestion for you. It would mean a lot to the employees if you treated us like you did years ago. With Respect !
Pros
Descent money.you have days off during the week when on 12 hour shifts but 12 hour shifts are long
Cons
Mandatory over time takes time away from family and the company says they care about family but they don;t show it with there actions/
Advice to Senior Management
They should treat there employees with respect and not treat them like robots, we are human and do make mistakes at times!
Pros
Albany International is in the process of drastically changing its corporate culture to be less focused on manufacturing and more focused on innovation in the virtual world - the company itself is very innovative. The majority of employees at the company are long-termers who have a great deal of knowledge to impart, but there has been an infusion of younger talent that are making changes.
Cons
Certain business groups of the company move at lightning-speed, while other business groups move at a glacial pace due to their deeply-set culture, and it becomes difficult for these group to collaborate with each other. As a result, folks tends to stick to their business group when it comes to their professional network within the company.
Advice to Senior Management
Knowledge-sharing and communication across employees of the business units presents an opportunity for improvement. The difficulty to initiate this is the different paces at which each group of the company operates.
Pros
Industry leader in product innovation and manufacturing. Personnel are very competent and looked upon with respect for others in industry and customers.
Cons
Lower compensation versus industry average. Most employees are extremely loyal to Albany International, however their annual compensation has not kept up with industry in past decade.
Advice to Senior Management
Continue to listen to customers and loyal employees. Management has done an excellent job in implementing internal systems to streamline and make Albany internally strong. Focusing on customers and employees will continue to elevate Albany in the industries where it participates.
Pros
Albany supports and understands effective methods for employee development. Albany believes employee empowerment is not just a buzz word. It is no surprise that employee engagement and retention are very good.
Cons
Albany is not a large large company, so opportunities are more limited by comparison. However, Albany is a growing company with a great future and one who promotes from within when possible. Hard work and good job performance does pay off at Albany.
Advice to Senior Management
Thank you for your understanding of the importance of employee empowerment and your actions to make Albany a stable and prosperous company.
